[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.  This is to have succeeded." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

One of our CBCR volunteers posted this quote yesterday. I really like it and decided to use it to start my week off. Yes, Saturday is the first day of the week for me. Working at home, weekends and weekdays are pretty much the same for us. This has been a killer week and today I am feeling the results.

I picked up the little female from the shelter yesterday. We named her Tess. She is a beautiful little BC, very timid and horribly under weight. I bet she did not weigh over 20 pounds. I took her over to Laura's,  who will foster her for a few days until we can move her into permanent foster space. We cannot adopt her out until she puts some weight on and gets over some of her shyness.

I spent most of yesterday taking Malcolm's cone collar off and on to give him a break from wearing it. If it is off, he has to be watched to make sure he does not start chewing at his wound. When it is on, he runs in to stuff and wants to play but can't because of the collar.

I have lots to do but may not get much done today. My body is telling me it is time to have an easy day. I usually listen.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

More birthday fun for my sister. When she got home from work she had pink flamingo's in her yard and a black balloon on her banister. When I went over yesterday to take the pictures, the balloon had become deflated. The birds were rather cute with the black ribbons.

I did not take the day off yesterday as planned and have an easy day. I did a load of clothes for Lenore. Took the big crate over to Laura's for Tess. Then went over to my folks to pick up a box of old sheets and towels to give to a CBCR volunteer who uses them for all the dogs she fosters. I did sit and rest while mom, dad and Frances ate lunch. I had dessert with them, then went over and took those pictures. I did rest some when I got back home, but still had some things to do.

I will clean house this morning and sit and watch the race this afternoon. I planned an easy dinner and will have a nice relaxing night. I have been watching the Crufts Dog Show from England on Animal Planet. Tonight is the final night of competition. I like their show much better than the ones in the United States. Much less pretentious and they include agility, flyball, and obedience demonstrations.

I have another busy week coming up starting tomorrow.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

I did as promised and spent most of yesterday as a couch potato. The race in Atlanta was one of the best this year with a photo finish between Dale Earnhart and Bobby Labonte. I finished up taking care of the laundry and doing a load for Lenore, but mostly entertained the dogs while watching the race. I feel much more rested this morning.

The finals for the dog show were last night. A lot of fun to watch.

This morning I am off for a haircut and lunch with an acquaintance. Then I take Tess (the rescue) to the vet at 4:00 for a check up to make sure she is fine health wise other than being horribly under weight.

In between, I want to work on mailing my business postcards I had printed up. I will send them to previous clients or contacts and potential businesses. In the process I will create sort of a mailing list data base to keep track of which ones I get responses from, etc.

Malcolm continues to recover. I was able to keep the collar off him most of yesterday since I was sitting in the den with him. He pretty much leaves his leg alone but we can't risk it today since he can't be watched all the time. I hate that collar as much as he does.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Celebration Day. Bob sent in his last chapter last night for 100% completion. He still has tech rewrites and stuff, but we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. It has been a long haul.

Off to the gym this morning and to run some errands. I will mow the yard this afternoon and clean up sticks from the wind storm we had on Sunday.

Little Tess had her vet visit yesterday afternoon. She is under weight either due to a whip worm infestation or a heart block. Her spay sutures were also infected. Hopefully once we clear up the whip worms she will be feeling better and we will not have to pursue the heart block theory. Dr. Craig at Mt. Tabor Animal Hospital is a wonderful vet and very supportive of animal rescue.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

I have two home visits today in Mooresville, about an hour from here. I am taking Malcolm along just for the ride. We often take one our own dogs on home visits, especially if the family has never owned a Border Collie. We just check over the home and do an interview with the family. It helps us to access what they are really looking for in a dog and the home environment it will going to.

I also have to run Tess up the vets this morning before I leave. We are concerned about her stitches from the spay.

I am also having dinner out with a couple of my friends from the library. We are meeting at Macaroni Grill. A great place for food but somewhat noisy.

I have a busy day so I guess I need to get started.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I am off early tomorrow morning to Cleveland, NC for a sheep trial. CBCR will be selling stuff to raise money and talk to people about Border Collies. These events are a lot of fun to watch and participate in.
