[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Yesterday

We had a very nice time at the Holiday Tours preview. This being our first one, we did not know what to expect. In addition to giving out little ditty bags there was live entertainment from some of the shows they go to and door prizes. I did not win a door (ha) but my mom and sister each won a nice prize. They had free pop corn and drinks. I would guess they had a total of around 7 or 8 hundred attend after all was said and done.

They ran a little late with the program so we did not get out of there until around 6:30. We stopped at a Shake and Steak on the way home for a quick dinner. After I dropped of my parents and sister I got home sometime after 8:00.

Today

I have an appointment for a hair cut this morning and errands to run while on that side of town. I am also going to stop at the garden store on the way home and get some straw for the areas of the lawn I reseed Friday. It was too  wet and rainy to get straw and put out. I also am going to order my pine needles to be delivered for the natural areas and go ahead and get that job done before spring.

This is my favorite quote which comes from Groucho Marx:

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Yesterday

By the time I got back from my hair cut and bank stop the garden center had already delivered my pine needles and straw. I got started right away putting out the straw on the bare patches of the lawn to see if I can get this new grass seed to take. I took a quick break for lunch and then put out about half the bales of pine needles in the natural areas and than quit. Putting out pine needles is pretty labor intensive work, so I quit about 2:00 and came in to get my shower. I had some other things I wanted to do in the late afternoon until time to fix dinner.

Today

Off to the gym this morning for my workout and then home. I will spread more pine needles today and possibly finish that job. Yesterday was very sunny but cold and windy. Today is another pretty day and is to be a little warmer. This afternoon I need to pay bills and do some stuff in the office, work on the book, etc, etc.

Not much else is going on right now.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Short post today. For one thing there is not really much going on to tell you about and I am off this morning to play golf with dad. It is to be the warmest and least windy today, so we are taking advantage of the nice weather. It means I will be gone the better part of the day. We play at a course near his house. With the winter temperature making it colder in the morning we can't get off until after 9:30 and it takes at least 3 1/2 hours to play this course.

Shelley, I was "raised in a paper bag" too! I am very fortunate to still have both my parents and they still live in the house I grew up in. I too, am very thankful for the way in which I was raised and taught to appreciate the things and opportunities we were given when we were growing up. I appreciate the things they instilled in me although at the time I am sure I did not understand as well as I do now. A quote from Colette, the famous French novelist, What a wonderful life I've had! I only wish I'd realized it sooner.  I have, but there are many people out there who never make that stark realization!

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Yesterday

A very nice day for being outside. It warmed up to 50 degrees and the wind did not get too bad before we finished playing. While I was gone they came and patched the street from the sewer mess. Now, if they would just come and do my yard. I did some work and caught up on reading diary pages before dinner. We started watch the new episodes of Buffy and Angel while eating and finished after taking the dogs for their after dinner walk. Then I watched West Wind at 9:00 followed by the last dog walk of the evening and off to bed to read.

Today

Cold, cold. High of near 40 degrees with winds gusting to 20/25 mph. One of the columnist in our paper said it was like Chicago without the pretty snow. I tend to agree with her. It is snowing in the mountains today but not here. I am off to the grocery store and bank this morning to exchange the money that Malcolm pilfered and shred from my pocketbook. If you missed that story, you can read it on Bob's  page entry for Tuesday of this week.

I am thinking about going to the 6:30 spin class tonight, so I will not go to the gym this morning.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

For some reason I am astounded that I cannot get the currency that Malcolm partially tore up replaced. I went to two banks yesterday, both of which told me they would not take the money. All three of the bills are over 3/4 in tact, with just the ends torn off. According to the US Treasury Money Factory web site I should be able to take that money to a bank and get it exchanged. I e-mailed the Money Factory web site for an explanation but I doubt I will hear back from them with a decent answer. I guess I will just have to pack it up, take it to the post office to be mailed registered, and wait to see if the treasury department will issue me some new money.

Today

I need to make a library book run for Bob and Lenore and see if we have any reserves in. I have not done any volunteer work for a couple of weeks so today I am going to hang out at the library this morning and work on gift books for a while. I need to make a drug store run for Lenore while I am out, too.

I guess this afternoon I will work on projects and computer stuff. I want to get my flyer that I am working on to advertise my research services finished so I can post some at various places next week.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Today is another cold and windy day but is to warm up and be sunny by tomorrow.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Yesterday

I spent the morning at the library trying to get the gift books under control getting back home around 12:30. After a snack lunch I headed for the computer to get some work done. Around 3:30 Bob and drove out to the Rural Hall library to see if we could find Bob some books he has not read yet and to have dinner at the fish restaurant that we used to frequent when I worked in Rural Hall. We had a nice meal of fried popcorn shrimp and fries and headed back home with a take out meal for Lenore.

Last night I continued reading The Forest. I have less than 200 pages to go. I did not plan to check out any books at the library since I have The Forest to finish but I ran across two travel type books I had not read. Frances Mayes Bella Tuscany and one of Peter Mayle's, Encore Provence. I don't think I have read any of Frances Mayes but Mayle is so funny. I recommend his books if you have not tried them.

Today

As Bob calls it, "I have some farming" to do this morning. Yesterday, just as I was leaving for the library the city guys arrived to fix the dirt for seeding from the sewer project. I told them if they would get the lumps out, grade it, and leave me a bale of straw I would do the remainder.  I would just as soon throw out my good seed and fertilizer than their cheap stuff. I will get that done this morning along with some other minor things that need done out side. Perhaps I can persuade Bob to climb up and fix the gutter today it is to be fairly warm and not windy.

Guess that is all for now. I have not decided beyond the outside work what I will get into this afternoon.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Yesterday

I am glad I got out to do the yard stuff early. By the time I finished, around 11:30 the wind had started blowing again making it miserable to be outside. Bob tried to fix the gutter but it was too awkward to get to with our ladder and with the wind howling was way too dangerous anyway. I will call the guys that installed the gutters and have them come out do the repair.

Today

House cleaning this morning. This afternoon I need to clean up my desk and work area and do some paper work. Sorry about the short post but not much else is going on around here at the moment.
