[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Happy Monday everyone. Not really much in the way of news. I can't remember if I mentioned the next book I am reading, Death Lies and Apple Pies. This is the second book in the Tori Miracle series by Valerie Malmont set in rural Pennsylvania. Tori has returned to visit her boy friend and policeman in Lickin Creek, PA. She is not in the town for more than an hour before she is asked to be the judge for the Old Fashioned Apple Butter festival and one of the locals dies in her arms. It seems the government wants to put a nuclear waste dump nearby causing a major uproar among the town folk. As usual with Tori, she has a lot of dead bodies, colorful characters, and usually some kind of underlying cause to fight. Her books are light, enjoyable reading.

I have been to the gym for Body Pump. It is time to give the dogs some attention and get in some reading before bedtime.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Remember back in the summer when we had all that rain. Well, now we need rain and there is not any in sight. I think over the last three or four weeks it has rained maybe two or three days. I put out my seed last week and we have had nary a drop. I watered the lawn well Saturday morning.

Now, the grass is high and the leaves so thick they will kill the grass when it does try to come up. Today I came home and mowed the lawn without the bag to mulch the leaves, cut the grass, and not pick up the seed and fertilizer. It was so darn dry with all the dirt down due to the plugging I had a constant cloud of dust surrounding me the entire time I was mowing.

After I finished mowing I watered down the yard thoroughly again. Hopefully the seed will start coming up in another week so I can get the leaves up with my vacuum.

I finished up in the yard early enough to come in and check mail and web pages before fixing dinner. Guess that's about all for today in terms of news.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Short post this evening. I left work at 3:15 and drove to the mall to look for a few things I needed before meeting Nancy and Betsy for dinner at the Olive Garden. Actually I parked in the Olive Garden parking lot and walked across to the mall. The restaurant is located on the far side of the mall parking area.

I picked up some socks and a couple of Land's End long sleeve t-shirts at Sears.

I need to give the dogs some play time before bed time.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Bob and I had a rather busy afternoon. I got home from work about 3:30, played with the dogs and checked my mail. Around 4 we left for the library, pet store, jewelry store to get a battery for my watch, frame store, and dinner. All of these stops were in the little shopping center directly across from the library. After dinner, while Bob waited in the car, I went in Lowe's and did the grocery shopping. Nothing like one stop shopping is there?

We were home, had the groceries put away, and the dogs walked by 6:30. I think I will go out and watch a couple of my taped shows from earlier in the week.

Winter or I should say fall has returned to the Triad. The temperatures have gradually been cooling off all week during the day back down into the 60's with lows at night in the high 30's. This weekend is to be cold and hopefully rainy!

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Busy day yesterday. After I left work I had errands to run; Wal-mart, tobacco store, bank, etc. By the time I got home I had just enough time to check my mail and fix dinner before we took off for Pilot Mountain for an observing session.

It was a very clear night for bagging deep sky objects. I struggle to find several I was not able to locate but did manage to get five or six by the nights end. After two years I find it very surprising I have progressed to the point I am at now...being able to find small faint planetary objects and nebulas. I still have problems with open clusters. But, as you all know, I have a great teacher in Bob. The temperatures were cool but as the evening progressed the wind really picked up significantly.

We were home and in bed by 1 am. We slept in until 8. After reading the paper I gave Bob a haircut then did the vacuuming while Bob cleaned the bathrooms. After I finished up inside I took the dogs out with me to get some much need yard stuff done. After pulling up all the summer annuals, trimming up the hosta, and doing other assorted cosmetic things I planted the two mums and five bushes I bought last weekend at the garden shop.

I finished up around 12:45, came in for a shower, and fixed a light lunch while I started working in my office. I spent about two hours doing contract work then spent some time cleaning off my desk before fixing dinner. We had steak, broccoli, and garlic break for dinner.

Tonight we are going to watch Boudica we taped a couple of weeks ago on CPT. We have had some gorgeous fall weather the last couple of days but we need rain.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Played golf this morning, in the fog again. When we teed off it was fairly thick then lifted about the third hole. However, when we got to the back nine it rolled back in again and started drizzling around the sixteenth hole. We finished up just as it started coming down a little harder.

The weather forecast called for the rain to start in the afternoon not mid-morning. Bob did not blow out the gutters yesterday thinking he would wait and do it when I got home this afternoon so they would be cleaned at the last minute before the rain.

When I got home around 12:30 you could tell it had been raining pretty hard on this side of town. Bob had already cleaned the gutters when he saw the rain coming in early. After reading the paper I came back to my office to get some work done. The race was in Atlanta and was rained out until tomorrow.

I started a new author last night, Claudia Bishop. I am reading the second book in the series, Dash of Death. So far, she is not as good a writer as some of the others I read but tolerable. The main character runs an Inn along with her sister in a small town. I only read a couple of chapters last night to see if I would like.

Thankfully It is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. I can get my leaves up on afternoon this week now that the seed and fertilizer will get watered in good. I just hope it comes up.
