[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Monday greetings to everyone. As Bob mentioned on his page, we had a nice time last night with a visit from Paul and Mary. I am not much of an egg roll lover but Mary and Paul's homemade ones were delicious.

Not much else in the way of news. It has turned hot and muggy again with little relief in sight the next few days. I really miss being able to walk at lunch time but with this intense heat it is just too hot to be out walking especially as hot and sweaty as I get.

I have almost finished the Nancy Martin. Each book just gets better and better.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

By the time I got back from the gym last night and checked my mail I just did not feel like writing a post.

Today has been another one of those hectic Wednesday's at work again. If it was not one thing it was twenty.

Bob and I went to the library, the Chinese place for dinner, and then the grocery store. While at the library I learned who the new branch supervisor would be and that one of the other branch staff is leaving, her last day of work being Friday. Back home, I quickly started making phone calls to our board members to see if someone could get a gift to her from the Friends and delivered by Friday.

I did finish the Nancy Martin mystery and started another Mary Daheim, Alpine Journey.

The hot and humid weather finally broke last night. While severe weather was all around us we only had some rumbles and very little rain. I actually was able to walk at lunch today since it was in the low 80's and we had a very nice breeze.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I did put up a Wednesday post but forgot to the change the date at the top of the page just in case you missed it. Yesterday was yet another hectic day at work. I chilled out at the gym after the dinner, came home and skimmed my mail and hit the couch to read and relax.

Today was not as hectic but I am covered up in work, most of which will still be waiting for me Monday morning.  The funniest thing happened at work this morning. For several years at home and at work I have been using a track ball mouse to make it easier on my hands when I do a lot of mousing. Recently, Bob has switched me to a wireless mouse now that I do less mousing at home since I gave up the consulting work.

At work in my new job I don't have to mouse continuously all day like I did in my old job but I kept my trackball mouse when I moved over. This morning it stopped working. I removed the trackball, cleaned it like I usually do, reassembled everything but it would still not work. These trackball mice we have at the Firm cost about $6 at the most. At any rate, I disconnected said mouse and trotted next door to my old area where the IT folks are and had them did me out a new mouse. All they had were the standard Dell/Microsoft which I said was fine and would probably work better in my new job anyway. I plug in the new mouse, sit down to start working, and said to myself "hey this thing's not working up and down scrolling". DAH!. I was so used to moving the trackball as a habit that I forgot I had to move the mouse. Thankfully I discovered my mental error before calling someone for help. That would have been very embarrassing.

I am in the middle of watching a two disc set of a Tom Petty concert so I think I will finish this up and get back to it. Have a great weekend.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

It is brutally hot today. Right now it is 92 degrees but feels like 100 along with some loud thunder but so far no rain.

Knowing it was to be hot I was up and at my chores by 8:30 this morning starting off with some ironing followed by the weekly house cleaning. Next I headed outside to edge and mow the lawn and also firing up the gas trimmer to trim back the neighbors forsythia along the lower side of the driveway. I had everything swept up and finished by 12:45 before heading straight for the shower.

After lunch Bob went back to read on the bed while the dogs and I took a short nap in the den for about an hour.  Other than checking mail and stuff I plan to spend the remainder of the day relaxing and resting in some form or another.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

No golf today, I wanted to make the final push of getting dad's weed gardens under control. I slept in until 8, read the paper, ate breakfast, and took off for mom and dad's. We started around 9:30. While it is another beastly hot day we were working in the shade up in the backyard. There was actually a breeze from time to time. Dad hoed the low stuff while I pulled the high stuff and picked up. We finished up most the old garden area except for one corner. I filled the yard cart with debris before we could finish plus we discovered another yellow jacket nest in the area we needed to work. I sprayed the weeded area plus the unfinished area with round up. He can decide what he wants to do with it this fall. Seed it back to grass or straw it as a natural area. It is not all that big of an area. We will leave the upper corner where his azaleas are as a garden.

We had pretty much finished by 11:30 when mom had lunch ready. After lunch we finished up a couple of odds and ends then I came on home. Showered and cleaned up I plan to check mail and pay some bills then spend the remainder of the afternoon watching the golf and the race while I rest and relax. We are under another heat advisory for this afternoon with temperatures and humidity pushing us up over the 100 degree mark.

I sat up last night finishing up the B&B mystery. Next, I will read another Alpine. I am up to the K's in the Alpine series and have six more in the B&B series to work my way through. Q is the last one in the Alpine series which Bob has now completed.
