[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Happy Monday. Not really much to talk about other than...the weather. I went to the gym on the way home then fixed sandwiches for the dinner. I told Bob we should hurry and take the dogs out because the skies looked pretty threatening on the way home.

Just as we got back in and I settled down here at the computer it "came a flood". The raining is pouring down in waves of light to hard and harder repeatedly. Flash flood watches are up all over the state. Until this evening, we had missed all but just brief light showers.

Last night Stephanie called about 8:45 to see if I wanted to walk. Since the temperatures had dropped to the mid 70's I took Malcolm but the humidity was still awful.

We are in the middle of watching a Cadfael. I shall play "Dr Seuss" ball with Malcolm.  "Malcolm, get the ball, it's down the hall, against the wall".

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Whew! Busy, busy, busy at work. I feel like the little boy who kept sticking his finger in the dike to plug up a hole. Each time he plugged one hole another popped up somewhere else. Here is how my day went today:

I start work at 8:30 by reading Firm e-mail, etc. After cleaning up a couple of projects I was unable to finish yesterday I started working on a box of files about 9:30. I managed to get one file entered in the database when "hole # 1" popped up. I solved that problem then moved on to a couple of more things that came up.

By then it was noon and time for lunch. I grabbed my book and walked down to the park again to listen to the live music. Today's group was Giannini Brass, a local of musicians with ties to our local School of the Arts. I actually bought one of their albums for my sister for Christmas one year. It was very relaxing to sit on the bench under the shade, reading and listening to their music.

Back at work Drew and I had to go across to one of our other buildings to move some boxes, tagged them for data entry, and arrange for them to be picked up by our off site storage facility. Back in the building, I had more holes popping up in my Dike by the minute solving one thing after another. At 4:30 I tried to start on that box of files again. HA! Not to be. I never did get back to that box. By 4:55 I was "done" for the day. That pretty much sums up how the last week has gone. The way things are looking right now it is also how the remainder of the week will go.

Stephanie and I walked last night. We took the dogs around the block then brought them back home before taking off with just her and the kids. It was not all that hot but still too muggy for Malcolm.

Tonight I came home and mowed. With all the rain and the fertilizer I put down it really grew high since last Friday. I had been getting away with mowing once a week but with this rain I will have to mow every four or five days for awhile.

I am still reading the Cliff Janeway, The Bookwoman's Last Fling by John Dunning. If I can stay awake long enough tonight I may get it finished.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

YAHOO! Last day of work for me for a whole week. We are, of course, closed next Tuesday for the 4th but I am taking the whole week off. Lots to do around the house plus being on hand to do pictures for the new book.

Last night Stephanie and I walked. We started off with Malcolm going with us. The temperatures were only in the high 70's but he almost gave out on me before we got to the corner where we can turn to come to our house or go further around the block. We came home and dropped of Malcolm and picked up Duncan for the last leg of the journey. Until it cools off or we have a cooler evening I will start leaving the dogs at home.

I finished the Cliff Janeway. Next up, another Ann Perry.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Well, the first day of July. Half the year gone already. I started this morning doing a few outdoor miscellaneous type chores while it was still relatively cool. I was doing this while Bob was getting his backup started and doing other computer stuff.

Around 9:30 we left for Home Depot to pick up a few things. I wanted to get paint chips to see get a color for the shutters and for the trim around the windows and the porch posts. We also bought an electric power washer that Bob has been itching to get.

After a short lunch bread Bob set the power washer up to do the front shutters and windows. If we washed them down good today they will have today and tomorrow to dry good before I start painting on Monday. Well, after several fits and starts the power washer worked for all of the 30 seconds before it died completely. After Bob checked the web site for trouble shooting we deemed it needed returned to the store.

So, back to HD to return the washer. We got a refund for now. I am not sure we really need a power washer but if comes up again later we can try a different brand or model. Back home, I used what I originally intended to use which is the Windex outside window washer stuff that comes in a power bottled you attach to a garden hose. I did the outside of all the windows and the shutters in about half an hour. Upon closer inspection of the posts we discovered they may need some professional repair as does the stoops at both the front and back doors. I can go ahead with the window and shutter painting but may have to hold off on the other until we get it looked at.

That's it for outside today. My game plan for the week is to get most of the "work" out of the way on Monday and Tuesday leaving Wednesday and Thursday to run errands, etc. I will be leaving Friday to go out of town for the weekend but more on that later next week.

I have women's US Open golf, the mens golf, Wimbledon, and tonight the NASCAR race from Daytona as the remainder of my days viewing pleasure.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I left home around 6:45 to pick up dad for an early start to golf due to the forecast for temperatures to reach the low to mid 90's today. We did finish by 11:30 having taken about half an hour longer to play the backside than usual because we were following a tournament.

After lunch I mowed dad's lawn then put out the remainder of my summer fertilizer on his yard. It was coming upon 3 by the time I finished up over there.  That's all I had planned to get done today anyway since I am off all week.

After I check my mail I shall hit the couch to read the paper while watching the golf. Last night Stephanie and I walked about 8 just as the race was starting I watched some when I got back until about 9:30 then went on to bed to read.
