[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Yes, Bob and I and the dogs used the long weekend for a visit with Brian and Marcia in Maryland. Unfortunately tropical storm Ernesto was going pretty much the same way we were. We drove up in torrential rains and winds. It took full concentration at the wheel to keep from losing the car to either a strong gust of wind and/or deep rains on the roads. It was a long and miserable drive but well worth it in the end to get to spend a few days with good friends and their dogs.

As I mentioned last week I was pretty much at exhaustion level when I left here on Friday. Friday night I went to bed at 9 and slept until 7 then napped a good part of the afternoon. Saturday and Sunday nights I went to bed early and slept in late getting up just in time to take a nap. I did get in some reading by finishing the quilting book, reading another Hamish, and starting an Anne Perry. Marcia and I did a little shopping but not all that much and we made our usual trip to the Amish market.

When we left Maryland yesterday morning we drove all the way to the North Carolina line in the same mess we drove up in. Torrential rains with some winds though not as bad as those going up. It was just a little after 2pm when we arrived at home. With all the rain from Ernesto plus weekend thunderstorms, up to and including Tuesday morning according to our neighbor, the grass had grown about a foot. Since it looked like it was going to rain again soon, I cranked up the mower as soon as I helped Bob get the car unloaded.

I then took off for a drugstore run and to pick up Subway sandwiches for dinner. After dinner I checked my mail, sorted the snail mail, unpacked the cooler and the suitcase. After a brief rest while I caught up on the back issues of the newspaper I finished putting away the rest of the stuff from the trip.

Of course it was "hit the ground running" at work today. I am getting ready to launch the fall destruction project plus I am helping two of our other offices with their destruction processes. I will most likely be going to those offices later this year. Steve is very busy getting our newest office in Wilmington, DE up to speed with their records which means he will be going back up there very soon.

Well, I have bills to pay and other things to sort out.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Malcolm went in for some minor surgery today based on Dr. Taylor's recommendations from a visit back in July. The lump he removed from his lower abdomen was only a large fatty mass. The little growth behind his ear was also not serious. When they went to clean his teeth they found a loose incisor. The tooth almost fell out apparently due to a root problem. After extracting the tooth he cleaned up the root canal.

Last night I finished up the Anne Perry I started while on vacation picking up another Dana Stabenow next.

Now, I will be disappearing again for the weekend. After work tomorrow I am picking up my folks to meet my sister for dinner. After taking them back home I will go on to Frances and Al's to spend the night. Saturday morning she and I will be driving down to Level Cross to catch the motor coach to VA for a weekend trip arriving back home sometime Sunday evening.

Time to pack, again, and get things ready to go. See you next Monday.
