[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Well, gosh. My Monday started off the same way my Friday/last week ended. That does not bode well for the remaining week. The main paralegal I support stayed late on Friday evening to catch up on all her work that needed to be done to the patent/trademark files in her office. Once she finishes what she does the files come back to me to either file, complete further tasks and return to her, or complete further tasks and file them on the shelf. Most of what was on my desk, chair, and cart was the latter two options. After getting my morning routine things done I was just getting ready to start digging in when I was asked to help out on a project that we do quarterly for one of our clients.

That project took all day including me having to stay until 5:45 to get things finished up. Oh well, no Y but home at about the same time. It will all be there waiting when I get return in the morning.

Hot and humid again. Marcy came downtown to meet me for lunch. We walked to Noma's which is just a couple of blocks up from my building. On the there we passed a couple of new restaurants getting ready to open. Downtown is trying very hard to come back. They have some pretty good art galleries and a good variety of restaurants. What they lack that the other successful cities have is more antique stores and unique shops to bring people to town other than to eat and gallery hop.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

A month or so ago when I started my truck I got whirrr, whirrr, crank after it sat over night or all day at work. When Bob put the battery charger on it showed an almost full charge. It's been fine up until the last few days. This afternoon I was not sure it was going to crank. I called Bob to see if he thought I should go to the Y and let him charge it tonight or go on to Merchants. As usual, the phones were dead again. We get new phone service installed tomorrow. Thankfully, it was not an emergency.

I decided I might as well go on to Merchants rather than risk it not starting at the Y. They tested the battery, which was three years old, and said it showed it needed replaced but I told him I was still not convinced it was the starter. I put a rebuilt one on in 2004. They put in a new battery but one of the connectors would not tighten down. They put a new connector on and started it up. Same thing. So, they replaced the other connector. This time it would not start.

The guy crawled under the car, banged on the starter a few times and she cranked right up. I called Bob to come get me, they said it would be finished by closing time tonight. We had just finished dinner when they called to tell us they could not get the manifold bolts loose and wanted to know if they could leave them to soak over night. So, we will get the car back tomorrow night after work. I will have to drive the hot mobile tomorrow. Today it was 98/100+.  I think tomorrow is to be about the same.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I picked Bob up after work to go get my truck. The drive to work this morning in the hot mobile was not bad but coming home it was pretty hot. We dropped his car off at home then picked up Paul and Mary to go to a new restaurant for them, Oso Eat's. I had been there with Marcy and had recommended it to my folks and Frances. Really good pasta as well as meat and fish dishes.

Time to relax, watch some Everwood, and play some ball with Malcolm.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

We had a heck of a storm last night from around 9 until almost 11. We could hear the thunder for a long time before the rain started while were watching Everwood. When it was time to take Malcolm for last time at 10 is was pouring. He is not a big fan of rain. If it was just raining I would have put on his and my raincoats and slogged out for his walk. But the way it was lightening and thundering I just let him run out real quick and come back in. I had just put my nightshirt on when a loud clap of thunder followed by lightning  caused the lights to go out. They came right back on. Malcolm went in the shower stall. There was no use going to bed to read, he would have been lying on top of me panting so instead I went back out to sit on the couch. The worst had gone through by 10:45 so I could go back to bed. I managed to read one chapter before turning off the light.

Today was more of the same hot, 98/108 weather. I finally made it to the Y.

I am happy to report that our new phones and new phone service works wonderful.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I made my monthly trip out to Wal-Mart this morning to do the combined grocery and other shopping. Even though it was almost 10 when I got there it was not all that crowded. A lot of folks are on vacation this week/weekend before the kids have to head back to school. Last weekend was tax free in NC. A lot of folks did their back-to-school shopping then. I would not have gone near Wal-Mart on a dare last weekend.

After we unloaded the shopping we loaded our old 27" TV in the car and took it over to my parents house. They have a 2000 20 inch model. Our 27 was made made in 2001 and, as far we know, still works fine. The larger picture will help dad to see better with his failing eyesight. He should be able to hear better too since it sits in a very small den room. We dropped their old on off at the Goodwill trailer on the way home.

I changed into my yard shoes and mowed the lawn. The temperatures are in the high 70's to low 80's today but the humidity is 76%. Better than the 94/105's we had all week but still hot and sticky working outdoors.

I finished up the second book in the Twilight series last night. Next up, another Victoria Thompson Gaslight Mystery, Murder on Lenox Hill.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

The power went off about 11 o'clock last night. We were not having a storm at the time. Bob called Duke Energy to report the outage. The recording gave a fix time 2:30 am. And, of course, when the power goes the UPS in Bob's office starts beeping. He did something to make it stop but it started again around 2pm. For reasons I don't understand, he can't turn the noise off so we shut his office and our bedroom doors. He called to see if there was an update to the problem. The recording reported problems with the equipment and thunderstorms in the area and it would be 4 am. Not long after the power came on, sometime after 2am.

House cleaning this morning. I had Malcolm out for a walk after I took my shower. It may not be hot temperatures but the humidity is horrid.

I've cleaned off my desk, paid the bills, and balanced the checkbook. Bob is working on the media center PC to see if he can get it up and running.
