[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I am reading a new Peter Lovesey, Stagestruck, which is not due out until June of this year. However, someone donated an advanced reading copy to the library, so Bob and I are getting to read it early.

Merchants called Bob about the middle of the day letting us know the truck was fixed. Something about not getting the seal in the right place. I had a haircut appointment after work then swung by to pick up Bob to go it. I called our credit union today to get pre-approval. We are going to look at vehicles on Friday. When Bob gave the go ahead I restrained myself from shouting YAHOO at the top of my lungs.

Since the yard cart is full of  bush clippings I tried mulching tonight. Since I just mowed Friday it was not all that high. The grass is usually too sappy this early in the year to mulch but my new mower seems to be up to the task. I will continue to mulch unless I have to let it get too high because of rain.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Now that we have Colin I have I had to change my bedtime routine. Instead of going to bed between 9 and 9:30 I now sit in the den to read and play with the puppy. Obviously he is not ready to settle down that early and he does not like me to be in bed reading. Now we keep him active until about 10 then go back to bed. I bring him up on the bed with me to play while I read. Around 11 we do last time, turn out the lights, and hope he settles either on the bed with us or on the floor. He if goes to sleep on the floor Bob puts him up on the bed with us later in the night where he is pretty good about sleeping all night. If Bob or I get up to go to the bathroom during the night and he wakes up we take him out.

Last night storms rolled in around 9 about the time we needed to take him out. His indoor potty place is the hall bathroom so we just let him go in there. If he gets cranked up he sometimes has accidents in the foyer or kitchen. The first wave of storms went through by last time. This morning I woke up at 1:30 and so did he so I tried to take him out. When we opened the door and went out on the porch it was pouring rain. He would not budge off the porch. He does not like to go out in the rain. We came back in and went back to bed,

He is really growing. I need to take some more pictures.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I took a vacation day today. This morning I pulled up all the pansy and viola plants from the front beds and pot before taking a run out Lowe's. I needed to pick up some new bedding plants and a couple of things for dad. I then wheel barrowed about eight loads of mulch for the front beds. After lunch and shower Bob and I drove over to the Credit Union used car lot. Bob had looked at several cars on their web site while I was out working in the yard.

Many of the mid-sized SUV's were either too old and/or had too many miles or not in our price range. Bob had his eye on the Chevrolet HHR LS which is a smaller SUV. I admit I was not sure I was going to like it since it sits a little lower than the Trooper and has front wheel drive. But, after the test drive I fell in love with it. It's a 2011 with 17,443 miles on it. It really is a great car for the money. We had driven the blue Trooper since we were not sure we would find anything.

We came back home to clean out the white truck, find the title, and let the puppy out. We had asked them to deliver it but it would have been tomorrow before they could get it to us. Instead, we drove the white truck down to the DMV to turn in the tag then over to the lot to wait until they had the car ready to hand over. The tag for the white truck was expiring this month. Since we thought we would trade it before the month was out we did not do the required safety inspection and tag renewal and instead, just handed it back in.

They had it ready a little after 5, While we waited we signed all the paperwork for the loan and the title transfer.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I pulled the car out of the garage this morning and sat in the driveway for about twenty minutes playing with buttons and knobs while I had the owners manual open. Electric windows, door, and key fobs are all new to me. I then drove over to my folks house to do some gardening projects.

I spread two bales of pine needles Al dropped off at their house for me last weekend then helped dad with potting the stuff they bought last Sunday. We ran out of potting soil about halfway through so we took off to Lowe's and Chick-fil-A for lunch before returning back home to finish the planting projects. Frances stopped by their house to see the new car and pick up dad to take him to CVS while I headed home to mow the lawn.

On the way I stopped at the pet store to buy some yucky stuff to spray on the dresser corners. Colin has decided those are quit tasty to gnaw on while he is back in the bedroom supposedly taking a nap. He did a fair amount of damage when he was penned up in their yesterday. We have not used the crate except for a short period of time at bedtime. We have determined he is more timid then Ducan and Malcolm were as pups so we are being careful not to scare with things too early. He is very afraid of the crate. Once he grows out of puppy stage Bob can sand down the gnawed edges and I will tough them up with some furniture stain.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Happy Mother's Day to all moms and especially my mom. I am so very lucky to still be able to celebrate this day with her.

We've had a busy morning around here as usual. I caught up my ironing before starting the weekly house cleaning chores. I had just fninshed vacuuming the front rooms of the house and started down the hallway when the vacuum motor made a series wheezing noise. I was not actually sweeping anything off the floor but instead heading into the bathroom so I know I did not vacuum up something to clog the hose. Bob tried to take it apart to see if he could get to the motor but couldn't. It's eleven years old. Being run almost every week for that many years I am sure the motor finally just went out.

The downstairs upright that I bought from a neighbor when they moved has one of removeable middle canisters to vacuum stairs and stuff. I brough it up so I could vacuum the rest of the hall, bathrooms, our bedroom, and my office. When I went to look under the sink to get floor mopping stuff I found a big puddle of water on the floor of the cabinet. Bob found a loose fitting on one of the connectors.

I mopped the kitchen, den, hall, foyer, hall bathroom, and our bathroom. By this time the sun had finally come out. We had a little bit of rain overnight. Bob mixed me up a quart of Roundup in my tank sprayer. After I sprayed the weeds I planted my bedding plants I bought Friday and  used the weed eater to mow down the liriope in the back.

I've cleaned off my desk, paid some bills, and other assorted desk chores. That's enough for one day.
