Our sincerest sympathy with your situation.
As I suggested to Bob, maybe it is time to involve Hospice to help. They are empathetic, without being emotionally so involved. They have the professional skills to support your parents psychologically. This should take some of the strain off, as well as making your mother feel better.
Just a suggestion.

We pray for you.

Sorry for the tough times with your Dad. My wife is going through the same, just four to five years behind you. Maybe one or two, hopefully not.

Here in the Great State of Texas, our banks require that you use their specific POA for anything pertaining to the bank. My wife and her Dad had to go to Bank of America and Fidelity both to get my wife POA on his accounts. And use their specific forms in each case. Took them an entire afternoon to get it all done.

Better get POA on your mom also. You never know.

Mike, thank you so much for the thoughts. Yes, it has been rough but I think this last episode of having to go in the hospital out of town and keeping mom and I down there at the beach instead of being able to come home may have been an eye opener.

Regardless of my views, I always appreciate kind words and thoughts from caring people.

Barbara,

I'm a reader of your husband's blog, and have been kept updated on the struggles you are enduring with your mom and dad. I've been through the same thing with my parents during the last few years.

I know it's not easy, and I know how stubborn older parents can be. It's a tough balancing act trying to have them be happy, yet look out for their health and well being. There is comfort in knowing that your doing was you think is best.

I just wanted to tell you that you and your family are in my prayers. I know that is hocus pocus in Robert's world view and I don't know your views. But, it gives me some comfort, I hope it give you a bit of comfort too.
