I had to take a day off to handle mom stuff today. I picked up Frances at 10 at Creekside. We went to Allegacy to handle some banking business with mom’s account. After we finished up there we grabbed a bite to eat then drove down to Thomasville to spring mom from the hospital. We had her back to Creekside at 3pm. Mary, the 24/7 “companion” we hired was supposed to be there to meet us upon our arrival but she got lost. While we waited on her Frances stayed with mom at the apartment while I went to the drugstore to get prescriptions filled. Mary arrived soon after I got back followed closely by the owner of the senior service we are using and the head nurse. We filled everyone in on mom’s medicines etc. then we left.
At this point I am not sure mom is going to recover from this mental episode. She is really not any better than she was when she went in the hospital. I am not sure if they just can’t get the medicine right, it has not started working yet, or she is just not able to climb out of this hole. She will tell you she wants to get better than a minute later act like a helpless two year old. We have both OT and PT lined up to start this week. Hopefully between Mary and the therapy she will make it back to being able to live at Creekside by herself. If not, we will have to move her to an assisted or skilled living place.
