I am reading a new China Bayles mystery by Susan Wittig Albert, Death Come Quickly.

My 15 minute commute took me an hour this morning. Traffic along the block of Reynolda I travel in the morning is always heavy and sometimes backed up at the light. The short third lane turns left leaving the other two to go straight. As I approached the intersection I noticed a cop car blocking Reynolda road just past the intersection. The choices were left which I could not do since I was in the far right lane or turn right. From there is was nightmare with all the traffic being funneled onto a two way street. After sitting through numerous light changes on my alternate route I made it out of the traffic mess but had to go way out of my way.

Apparently the not so bad thunderstorm from last night knocked a big tree onto a power line. Frances works in the building at the corner of Reynolda and Silas Creek where the tree went down. They closed for the day with no power. I heard a hundred plus folks were without power most of the day.

The good news is my gasoline trimmer was ready for me to pick up this afternoon. By working through lunch I was able to leave early enough to stop to pick it up before they closed at five and make up the half hour I was late this morning.
