I met Frances and Al at the bank yesterday after work to supposedly close out the last of the estate stuff for mom and dad. We finally, after three months and help from the guy who set the trust up for mom and dad, received the money they put in the trust. However, the checks were written to the trust not to us. In order to cash the checks we have to open an account in the trust name of which I did not have the paperwork with me for us to do. Thirty minutes later we left the bank with instructions on what we needed for another trip back and went on to dinner at Red Lobster. From there I stopped at the grocery store finally getting home around 8pm.
This morning I met Frances and Al at the storage facility. They had a new room added on to their house in the back. We were meeting the movers to get mom and dad’s furniture from the apartment plus some other tables and stuff. They are using the furniture in the new room along with some of the odds and ends. I brought home two of the small tables and their microwave. We all drove in tandem to their house to unload and unpack boxes and help get the new room set up. They bought a couple of pieces of new furniture but everything else in the room is from mom and dad’s apartment. It’s a very nice addition to their house. The room went where the old deck was and they put a new deck on the new room. Bonnie’s cousin, Austin McKnight did the work in four weeks and did an excellent job.
It’s a rainy, cool day. The rain held off until late this morning after we had everything unloaded from the trucks and in the house.
