Frances and Al drove up to West Jefferson yesterday to spend some time in the downtown shopping area before driving over to our house arriving around 3:30. Al put the part on the tiller but it is still not running right. He used his little one to finish tilling the garden. We left around 5:45 to go to The Pines for dinner. This morning he tilled in several bags of garden soil and half a bag of fertilizer. Between the good apples on the ground and some he picked with the picker he had a bucket and a half to take home and I put a spaghetti pot full on the cook  while he and Frances fixed home made hash brown potatoes, country ham, biscuits, and eggs for a brunch.

We loaded the tiller in his truck for him to take down to
Winston to see if it’s worth repairing the leaking carburetor problem. Al raked up three buckets worth of black walnuts off the ground and did a couple of other odds and ends. They left to head back down to Winston this afternoon. We had a very pretty weekend with mild temperatures but a little windy.
