Another beautiful Saturday morning for getting out in the yard. I went out to Lowe’s to pick up a few things including a bush for the space in the front where I lost one last year. I bought a pink double bloom flowering quince. I have a white one in the back from a cutting I took off dad’s bush at the house. His bush also came from a cutting that someone gave him about 40 years ago.

After I planted the bush I put the hellebore and primrose plants in that I bought online. I then moved the pansies in the small bed to another bed so I could turn that area into lawn. I had made it a small natural area to cover up the stump and roots from when we had to take down the dead dogwood. I have added so much soil and mulch that the stump has rotted out. I raked the dirt level with the rest of the lawn then threw on seed and fertilizer.

The last job for the day was digging up the tie out stake in the front natural area. The hook was rusted and the one time I tried putting Colin on it he ran out after something coming down the street and almost took his head off. It was east to trip over or he could have hurt himself on it out playing. Unfortunately, tree roots must have grown around the flange that keeps it in the ground. No amount of digging and pulling would make it bulge. I finally came in to ask Bob if we had a hack saw, which we did. I cut it off below the head and buried the stem.

That’s it for today. Kit stuff for Bob this afternoon.
