Power Off, Power On

After I finished my errands yesterday afternoon I headed over my folks house to pick up my dad. From there were picking up mom at the hair dressers than home to pick up Bob to meet Frances at the Mexican restaurant. After we picked up mom and headed toward our house we hit a bad. It was pouring in sheets creating massive, deep puddles on Silas Creek Parkway. When we picked up mom I tried to call Bob to let him know we were on the way. I got a message indicating the party I was trying to reach was not available.

Hum? Each time I got to a red light along the way I kept trying Bob getting the same answer every time. Mom commented that perhaps the phone was off the hook but we have mobile phones. When I pulled up to the house Bob came out to meet me. The thunderstorm we drove through at just left our area causing a tree to go down on a power line. No power, no phones. The folks and I went on to dinner and I brought Bob back take out. We spent the evening reading, me with a flashlight, Bob with his Booklight. The power finally came on at 8:45.

This morning I got started in the yard about 8:45. I trimmed the long branches of forsythia along the drive using the loppersĀ  instead of the power trimmer. I then did the two bushes by the driveway, all the ones along the front of the house, and two out by the street. About three and half hours worth with a short lunch break. I got too tired to do the other four bushes by the street, mow, and edge. It was a nice morning to work outside. Cool and breezy though a little humid.

This afternoon while I watch the tennis match I’ll label more bottles for the chemistry kits.
