Looks like we had another 4 to 6 inches of snow over night. Today is mild with temperatures in the low 30’s creating snow fog. Tonight is to go back down into the 20’s refreezing whatever melts this afternoon.

I did the usual house cleaning chores, washed a load of towels, and cleaned the humidifiers with vinegar.

Mostly cloudy and not as cold or windy today with temperatures in the low 30’s. But, we are under a winter storm warning starting tonight. Not sure what form of white stuff we will be getting.

While the laundry washed and dried I did a couple of other chores including making up a batch of suet for the birds. Speaking of which, they have been swarming the feeders and the ground where the high winds blew the seed out of the mesh feeder the other night. Most of the ground is still covered in snow.

Winds were gusting well over 60 mph last night. It was 15 degrees this morning and sunny with a light breeze. Low 30’s today. The sun may melt off some of the snow.

The forecast is for more white stuff to start again tomorrow night and into the first of next week. I decided to go to the store this morning. Although I have plenty of the daily essentials; this time of year it’s always good to stay ahead of the weather. Plus, instead of slogging through the snow covered lawn, I needed to drive out to the mailbox with the driveway still an ice rink. All the snow covering the ice has long since blown off.

I am reading Bagpipes, Brides, and Homicides by Kaitlyn Dunnett.

Winter wonderland out there this morning. Last night around 9 it started pouring down rain. Then, all of a sudden, it became very quiet. When I looked out we already had several inches of snow on the ground. Looks like I had about 6 inches.

It is 23 degrees with strong, gusty winds. Wind chill is down in the single digits. Snow is blowing all over the place. Low 20’s the high for the day and back down into the teens tonight.

I drove down to Winston this morning to take the two pictures to the frame shop for repair.

Last night we had some heavy rain and a couple of rumbles of thunder.

When I left here around mid-morning it was sunny and in the mid 40’s. Going down the mountain and all the way to and including in Winston it was 39 degrees and misty.

Back in Sparta, it is in the low 50’s and sunshine but the winds have picked up since I left this morning. A nice day before the cold weather returns.

Monday January 25, 2021

Light rain off and on for most of the day. Temperatures in the upper 40’s.

On the way to the gym dropped off another small batch of stuff at Cares.

I had several pictures damaged last year during the earth quake that fell off the wall. They all had the glass broken out. They have been in the closet since then due to all my health issues. I finally pulled them out today to take a look at them.

Of the four, I will only see about getting two repaired. The other two were in those metal frames. One, a poster is not worth redoing. The other is sentimental in value but not worth getting fixed. The print was scratched when the glass broke.

Saturday January 23, 2021

Sunny today but cold and windy.

While the clothes washed I mixed up a batch of no-knead bread dough which I will bake for dinner. It makes three loaves. I cut them in half and freeze. Each half makes a two meal portion I like to use as a side.

I am reading The Serpent Pool by Martin Edwards.

I decided this morning to drive over to Galax, VA for a Wal-Mart trip. I needed some clothing items; i.e. socks, slippers, another pair of smaller sweat pants, replace my lightweight hoodie, and a few toiletry items.

On the way back into town I stopped by the bookstore for a short visit and see how things were going. I miss going.

Thursday January 21, 2021

Cloudy and breezy today but mild with temperatures in the low 40’s. I was hoping for rain today to wash some of the salt off the roads. The car is covered in salt again but until it rains there is no use in washing it off.

I went into town to pick up library books and for a chiropractor appointment to see if he can calm things down a bit. I took a week off and can tell a difference when I don’t go.

A few household chores including changing the sheets. Chicken in the crock pot for dinner.
