Well Friday finally got here but I was in the ER waiting room, again, when it arrived. A rotten week went downhill to a bad one last night when Frances called about midnight to let me know dad was unresponsive and she was on the way over to the house. Frances and mom finally got him awake about the time 911 showed up. It was 12:30 when she finally called back to let me know she had talked dad into going to the hospital to be check out. He did not want to go.
Dad had been acting a little off mentally Thursday afternoon when I had to the doctor’s again for more lab work that afternoon at 3:30. Four days straight of having to haul him over and back for blood work and/or to see the doctor. The doctor called me 5pm Thursday afternoon to let me know his vanc levels were still high and his creatin levels and to not dose him. I left and came home.
After I hung up with Frances I dressed and headed for the hospital arriving around 1:45. We took turns going back to sit with him and to talk with the doctors and nurses on his condition. Around 3am it was just sit and wait until they got the blood and chest x-ray results back. They finally decided to admit him at 5:30 but it was close to 6:30 when we finished talking with his doctor and they took him up to his room.
I came home and went back to bed. Frances took mom home with her to do the same. I got up at 9am and did my usual morning routine of shower, paper reading, and breakfast arriving at work at 10:30. Needless to say it was a long day after very little sleep. I worked until 5 then stopped at the grocery store on the way home.
I talked with dad twice on the phone today, a nurse, and a doctor. At first they wanted to send him home this afternoon and I told them no-way until they make sure his CHF was better, his BP was up, and he had no more infection. He may go home tomorrow if all is well.
