I took off this morning to run errands. Since I was going out to Lowe’s to pick up a chair for the new deck I drove the Trooper since it has more room in the back. I made a pet store stop first then after Lowe’s on to the grocery store.

Since I like the wrought iron chair I bought for the front porch I bought another one like it for the deck. Not sure about a table yet. I may just get a small one to go by my chair instead of big round one. We will not eat out there unless we have people over. If we do we can use the folding chairs and stack tables like we always have.

One thing I had to give up with the new deck was my bird feeders. My big, heavy metal one that screwed into the deck rail I obviously could not use since we now have vinyl rails. And, Bob really does not want feeders since they attract squirrels which chew on everything they can find.

After a quick lunch I used the blew the leaves from the natural area and the driveway again. I am not sure what I am going to do about the landscaping in the back. With the big, old deck I had put rock down to keep in from being so muddy under there. We don’t use the French doors that go into the finished area. The rock area now extends further than the deck a lot of which has washed from underneath. Guess I will shovel the rock all back up under the new deck and, after the leaves fall, order a load of mulch to replenish what ran along the outside edge of the old deck extending it back to the edge of the new one.

I like not having the stairs. We can now put all the various carts along that wall and I can keep it cleared of leaves easier without the steps being in the way. Lots of projects for that area for late fall. I then mowed finishing up just before a storm came in. It is now raining pretty hard. I was surprised when I mowed how dry and dusty it was after getting those five inches last week. The sun and rain just dried the ground out again.
