Diaries

Well, the hits just keep coming. Al drove up last night to take me to Winston this morning for the followup appointment with my orthopedic doctor. The infection in my spine is also in my replaced knee. He has to go in and take the knee out, put in a placer while I wear a brace then put in a new knee.

He went back home this afternoon. He is having a procedure done tomorrow so I am flying solo. I was sending him home the end of the month of August anyway. I have to be able to do this on my own.

Cloudy, 80’s, and very humid. Tonight or tomorrow we may start getting remnants of Laura as she moves inland and curves toward our direction.

Al had to go to Winston today. I did a load of laundry. I can wheel the basket on my walker to the laundry room and use my grabber to unload the washer and dryer.

Dr. Ambler, my family doctor, called. He talked with the my doctor at infectious diseases. They wanted to do some more blood work. So, I drove over to the practice this afternoon to get that drawn.

Another sunny day with temperatures in the low 80’s and a breeze.

The back spasm became more intense and frequent. I called and left a message with my family doctor to see if he could prescribe something stronger. Instead, the office called back to say he would see me at 10:45. We are hoping that these spasms are related to the infection not another problem all together. He did prescribe stronger muscle relaxing medication and had the lab draw more blood.

Otherwise, not much going on,

Al drove us down to Winston for my doctor’s appointment at 10:30 with my orthopedic doctor’s PA. When all this mess started back in May my left knee swelled up. There has been so much attention to my back that I had to wait until I was well enough to make an appointment to see what is going on with the knee.

The PA pulled half a syringe of fluid to send off to the lab. That junk she pulled looked just like the crap they were draining from my lung in the hospital. I have a follow up appointment with Dr. Howe next week.

Another day with temperatures in the upper 70’s but very humid.

A quiet day today. Al and I went to the grocery store and stopped by the drug store to pick up a prescription. That’s about it for today. Still fighting back spasms.
