40 degrees, sunny, and windy this morning. Another sunny, windy day though a bit warmer with highs in the low 50’s.

I finished the mulch project this morning. It looks good. I had just the right amount for the job. It took a couple of hours because I kept taking breaks, not to rest, but to go in the garage and get out of the wind.

I wanted to get it done this morning before James shows up to mow after lunch.

32 degrees, sunny, and windy this morning when I took Colin out. Another sunny but chilly and windy day. High today only 47 with the usual 15 to 20 mph wind gusts.

I called Scott’s Landscaping this morning and ordered a load of mulch. They delivered it around 11:30. I only ordered enough to freshen up the beds along the driveway; about 100 yards on each side. I worked for about two hours which was a little over halfway down both sides.

43 degrees, cloudy, and calm this morning. I drove over to West Jefferson this morning to Lowe’s. I needed gardening supplies; top soil, potting soil, a couple more small trellis, and peat moss for various upcoming projects. I found an N95 mask in among the others out in the garage and wore that and gloves.

There was only two people plus myself in the gardening area not counting the employees. I found everything I needed and headed back home.

I had a large hole in the front yard by the road where a pipe had been installed that ran under the road out the other side on the bank. Paul filled it in last year with dirt but over the winter it sank about 6 feet deep by six feet wide. James filled in the hole with wash rock and rolled over it with his truck to mash it down then filled that over with dirt.

I finished it off this morning with six bags of top soil, seed, and fertilizer. That should do the trick. Now I have the peat moss and potting soil I need to start my garden peas in the pots I put on the deck. I will save that project for another day after tonight’s cold front moves through.

60 degrees and windy this morning. We had 3.5 inches of rain starting about 2:30 yesterday afternoon. However, most of that fell overnight when the worst of the weather came through. Fortunately here, no thunder and lightening just lots of heavy, blowing rain.

Today it is windy with gusts in the 50 mph range and partly cloudy. High wind advisory until 4 pm this afternoon. I had to do my walk in the basement then a weight/walk workout in the garage.

41 degrees, sunny, and breezy when I left to go to the park to walk. Conditions much improved this morning. Though winds are still 5 to 10 mph temperatures are to be in the mid 50’s by this afternoon.

The LDS dry milk was not bad. I tasted a sip before I put it on my cereal. Not having had powdered milk before I have nothing to compare it with except my 2% real milk. it was fine on cereal and probably to make chocolate milk which I drink once in awhile in the evenings.

Laundry and other minor chores this afternoon. I am binge watching Where the Heart Is (1997 – 2006). A British show centered around life in a small rural community.

Friday April 10, 2020

Partly cloudy, 34 degrees with 50 plus wind gusts, feels like 17. A light dusting of snow was on the deck and natural areas. We under another wind advisory until 6 pm tonight.

Too nasty to be outside again today. I grabbed my weights and went downstairs. By opening the door from the finished to unfinished area I had a pretty good walking path. I alternated walking and weight lifting and walking with the weights to get my heart rate up.

While I was downstairs I grabbed a packet of the nonfat dry milk from the LDS storage box. Bob never used it but now is as good a time as any to see how it is. I mixed it up and stuck it in the fridge to try tomorrow on my cereal.

I have one quart of carton milk from the store that is still good as a backup.

Thursday April 9, 2020

We had a brief thunderstorm last night around 7. The temperature dropped 15 degrees after it went through. We had another one this morning at 4. Lot’s of bright lightening and thunder that shook the house that lasted about an hour. Colin was not a happy camper.

I did not go walk today. Winds are blowing 25 to 35 mph with gusts over 50. Even though temperatures are still in the upper 50’s and it’s sunny the wind makes it miserable to walk. Temperatures will fall as the day goes on back down into the mid 30’s by tonight.

60 degrees, sunny, and calm this morning when I drove down to the church for my walk. The winds have picked up and clouds are rolling in just like yesterday afternoon. We never did get any rain yesterday.

Not only am I well stocked with books I also had just gone to Barnes and Nobles and stocked up on crossword puzzle books right before all this stuff hit the fan. I do those during the day and color by number at night while I watch TV. I save my reading for bedtime. Household chores take up the rest of my time.
