I am reading Twenty-one Days by Anne Perry. The library has been closed for over a week. I still have books to read I checked out before they closed. Once I read those I have plenty on my TBR shelf.

55 degrees, sunny, and calm this morning when I took Colin out.

For a change of scenery I drove into town to walk at the park. Glad I did. One of my morning gym friends showed up to walk while I was there. We walked together, her on one side of the path, me on the other, to respect the social distancing. While we were there we saw a few other folks that are usually at the gym walking in the morning. It was good to see them and know they are all doing okay.

Upper 60’s today with partly cloudy skies this afternoon and the winds have picked up. May blow in a shower this afternoon.

51 degrees, partly sunny, and calm this morning when I took Colin out. At least the winds are calm today with temperatures in the low 60’s and partly cloudy. Change of a shower this afternoon and tonight.

I did the house cleaning chores this morning then went outside to do a couple of things. I used the hoe to stir up the top layer of soil in the garden and get up a few weeds here and there. It will be the first of May before we can til and plant up here. I dug a few weeds out of the beds along the porch and driveway. My primroses have bloomed as has my pink bleeding heart. The white one lags a few weeks behind.

59 degrees, partly cloudy, and breezy this morning. Warmer today but still 15 to mph gusting winds with plenty of sunshine this afternoon.

I did the laundry this morning. After a bite of lunch I finished up out in the garage. I even cleaned the two windows on the inside, which had not been done since we moved in. Things are moved around to where I like them, at least for now. All the gardening pots, etc. are stacked near the side door. The rearranging has left room for those to go after the season. The folding table has been cleared of clutter and ready for summer activities.

Friday April 3, 2020

Another sunny day with temperatures making it into the upper 50’s but 15 to 20 mph winds again. It was too cold with the wind chill this morning so I waited until after lunch to walk then came back and did my weight work.

I soaked two cups of pinto’s over night to cook for dinner tonight. Two cups, of course, is too much for even one or two meals. But, if I’m going to the trouble to cook them I may as well do a big batch. The freeze well and I use them for a variety of meals choices. I cook them plain then I can add them to kielbasa as a skillet meal or doctor them up as a side.

38 degrees, sunny, and windy when we went out this morning. Another day of 20 mph wind gusts. Lots of sunshine but temperatures are in the upper 40’s.

I met Joyce at the bookstore around 9:30. The carpet was cleaned last Friday. While she started painting the inside front door of the store I worked on moving stuff back into the store from the across the hall in the annex. I also moved all the stuff out the bathroom and took the shelves down off the wall so she can paint it next. After I finished up what I needed to do I stayed until she reached a stopping point with the painting. We left about 2:30

James had just finished mowing when I got home.

38 degrees and cloudy with 20 mph wind gusts when I took Colin out this morning. Too cold and windy to do my walk first thing this morning so I waited until after lunch.

Back home I did my weight work in the garage, which is warmer than outside and not windy. High may reach upper 40’s but with the wind and cloudy skies not a pleasant day to be outdoors.

Tuesday March 31, 2020

I am reading The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. This was loaned to me by a one of our bookstore patrons the first of the month and has been sitting on my dining room table. Thought I would give it a try for something different.

Rain today with temperatures in the mid 40’s falling to the upper 30’s tonight. Rain may be mixed with snow.

I needed to take the application from by the sheriff’s office to get signed and motorized for our ABC permit for the golf tournament to be held in June. Got that done then called Steve to see when he would be at the gym so I could drop it off. He’s been in there working on stuff while we are closed.

It would be another hour. Since I was in town I decided to stop at the grocery store. A girl was cleaning carts and handing them out. I was wearing gloves to be safe. I was able to get salad greens, apples, milk, and deli turkey. I also picked up a couple of squash and zucchini. I will cook those up and freeze the left overs for a couple of more meals.

I brought the groceries home then drove over to the gym. I did my walk around the parking lot while I waited for him to arrive then came back home.

50 degrees, cloudy, and breezy when I left for the church parking lot to walk. More sun than clouds this afternoon but the winds are gusting up to 30 mph.

I came back home and did some weight work in the garage. Too windy today to be outside so I am doing some more work on the reorganization of the garage. Today I moved all the summer flower pots and stuff I was storing in that corner. I’ve swept it out and am now working on moving things around to make better use of the area for storage, etc. It’s a work in progress.

Saturday March 28, 2020

60 degrees with lots of sunshine and a slight breeze at 8 am when Colin and I went out to start our day. It’s warmed up to almost 80 degrees this afternoon.

The cow fence that runs along tree side of the property is rusted. A popular fence post up here some type of tree pieces, not treated round posts. Most of those have rotted and are falling over. All the fencing is rusted and and falling down in a lot of places.

The upper end near the road is sill in pretty good shape and lot of that section is covered by big rhododendron bushes.

The worst section is in the middle that runs along the neighbors back lot which is all forest. I spent a total of about three hours wrestling with cutting and pulling the rusted wire out and pulling out the rotted fence posts. I also cut back some of the smaller trees and bushes running along the fence line. That is also the section you can see from the front porch looking across the lawn.  It looks much better now.

I took a break mid morning from wrestling with the fence to give the mailbox a good cleaning and put on some new numbers. The old ones were coming off and the mailbox had developed a severe case of dirt, grime, and green slime.

I wrapped up the major outdoors going on noon and came in to take a shower, eat lunch, and get the laundry started. This afternoon I will do some light duty stuff outdoors just to be outside enjoying then nice weather. I think tomorrow we are to start cooling back down with rain back in the forecast.
