Gym this morning. Speaking of which, another wonderful group of people who have been very supportive. The wellness center is small but adequate and like all small towns, everybody knows everybody. The “regulars” who are always there when I am have been wonderful as has the staff. Lot’s of support from all around.

It’s a nasty day outside. It’s been raining all day, heavy at times. The rains moves out tonight and cold comes back in behind it. A good day to stay indoors.

Tuesday February 6, 2018

I left here around 8 am to head to head down to Winston. First stop was to pick up my new glasses. From there I had several more stops to make before meeting my friend Jean for lunch at Cheddar’s.  Temperatures down there were in the mid 50’s. Up here we have mid 40’s and clouds. Rain tonight and tomorrow.

Monday February 5, 2018

I am reading Hand in Glove by Ngaio Marsh.

Gym this morning early to get back home before the mail arrived to pick up a couple of kits. While waiting on the mail I took care of odds and ends chores. After an early lunch I headed into town to run a couple of errands before going to the Friends of the Library meeting.

This morning was cold and windy but this afternoon it has warmed up to the mid 30’s, sunny, and just a breeze.

Sunday February 4, 2018

We had a little bit of sleet/freezing rain on the ground this morning but fortunately the temperatures climbed above freezing by mid morning. It’s been raining hard all day. We spent the morning relaxing and binge watching old episodes of Blue Bloods. Frances and Al left early this afternoon to head back to Winston. I have some stuff to do at my desk this afternoon.

Saturday February 3, 2018

Spent most of the day sorting more stuff. We made a quick run into town to the lawn and garden store to pick up an indoor planter for the house plant Frances and Al’s neighbor gave to me. The weather today is almost spring like; sunny, 34 degrees and almost no wind. Frances is fixing dinner; salmon, green beans, and sweet potatoes.

Friday February 1, 2018

We did not get the precipitation over night but the cold temperatures and wind did get here. It was 20 degrees this morning with those 40 mph gusts.

Alleghany Cares came this morning to pick up the extra refrigerator, an old microwave cabinet we were using for storage, the old electric stove top, and a couple of old microwaves.

Frances and Al got here while Cares was here. This afternoon SkyBest came to install cable. The selections on Netflix and Amazon go through periods where there is not anything I want to watch.  . Bob would download stuff for us to watch in the lean times. Their basic cable has a good variety of channels and some network shows Netflix and Amazon do not pick up for binge watching.

Thursday February 1, 2018

I had boxes to ship this morning. While I was waiting on USPS I started on the cleaning, vacuuming and dusting. This afternoon I ran a load of laundry and worked some more on sorting and organizing more of Bob’s stuff to see what I need I need to do next.

It’s a fairly nice day. Mid 40’s and a bit of breeze. The prediction for tonight is more of the white stuff but not much in the way of accumulation.

Wednesday January 31, 2018

After a cold start to the day things have warmed up to the low 40’s, sunny, and no wind. I’ve had a busy day getting stuff done. The load of food Al and I dropped off at the food bank yesterday was mostly in our big kit bins. They kept food and bins instead of having to move it to boxes. I told them I would come back for the bins. This morning I dropped off a small load of stuff from the freezer. They weigh everything that is brought in. The sum total of food Al and I took to the food bank was over one thousand pounds and I still have all the repackaged food and LDS canned stuff down stairs as well as some canned goods I wanted to keep.

From there I drove over to Jefferson to meet with an accountant recommended to me by my attorney. Bob did all the taxes and handled all the stuff for the business. I have not clue. I am in no hurry to file personal taxes and have to wait on all the 1099’s anyway but I need to make sure I am covering all the first quarter stuff due for the business.

I have spent the afternoon getting kit stuff taken care of and a few things ready I needed to mail off. It helps to stay busy.

Tuesday January 30, 2018

I  went to the gym around 8am to get back home before time for Al to get here from Winston. Snow showers over night and this morning. We had a dusting on the lawn. The main roads had been salted. The side roads were wet and had patches of black ice but for the most part they were good. The wind is gusting over 40 mph making being outside fairly miserable since the high is only 27. It’s to get very cold tonight.

Al arrived around 10:30. He came up to haul off another load of food to the food bank and stuff for cares and haul a big load of recycling back down to Winston for their recycling pick up tomorrow.

Monday January 29, 2018

After thee cancellations I was finally able to to keep my eye appointment in Winston this morning. Dr. Hill has been seeing me for 10 years and tracking my cataracts. Dad had glaucoma so she is watching that as well. I prefer to keep her as my eye doctor for those reasons instead of switching to one up here.

I left here early enough to run a couple of errands then headed back up the mountain around 11:40 when I finished up. Back home, I had phone calls to make and a kit issue to take care of. It’s a beautiful day but 41 degrees and windy. Snow showers in the forecast and very cold air returns for tonight. Not much of an accumulation predicted for Sparta.
