I left for Winston a little after 10 am for my 1 pm haircut appointment.

I stopped at Costco to pick up a few items. Plenty of paper products. Lots of water except for the gallon size. I took two of the last three on the pallet. I have plenty of the small bottles but I pour the gallon size into reusable drinking bottles for daily use at home. I did not need anything from the meat/ dairy/frozen food sections but the other food aisles were all well stocked.

It was warm and sunny down the mountain but cloudy and in the low 40’s when I got back home. May get some more winter weather tonight and in the morning with temperatures dropping down into the teens by morning.

Mostly cloudy today with high’s in the low 40’s but breezy making it feel like it is in the mid 30’s. Still lots of snow lying around. We may be in for some more tomorrow night.

I volunteered at the bookstore. It was slow this morning but things picked up substantially this afternoon getting us close to $100 mark by the time I had left.

We started out in the teens this morning but it’s warmed up into the low 30’s. Even though it’s warmed up the snow is still clinging to the trees and the ground is still covered especially in the shady spots.

Hwy 21 as well as my street and most of the side streets in town were either dry or just wet by the time I left for the gym late this morning. My driveway was melted where the snow blew off but it’s flat so where there was piles of snow I had no problem getting out. Fortunately the piled up plowed snow was not too high at the end of the driveway.

From the gym I stopped by the library to pick up some reserves that finally come in after all the holiday closings causing delays in getting from the various libraries. I stopped at the store to pick up milk and lettuce.

We had rain overnight until sometime early this morning. The next time I looked out around 6 am it was snowing. We had almost blizzard like conditions this morning with wind gusts in the 50 mph range. It’s hard to tell exactly because of the snow blowing all over the place but it looks like we had somewhere between 4 and 7 inches as predicted.

The storm is out of here and the sun is out. Still cold today with highs in the upper 20’s and windy. Tonight we are down into the teens.

I am spending the day working on house projects. Took gas stove top burners off and cleaned the top and the burner parts. The bookcase in the dinning needed a good coat of lemon oil. Now I am working on putting stuff back on the tables. Dusting the small stuff with canned as I put it back.

Sunday January 2 , 2022

We had about an inch of rain last night. Today is cloudy with temperatures in the mid 50’s falling as the day goes on. Tonight and tomorrow we are under winter storm warning for 4 to 6 inches of snow.

This morning I cleaned along the crown moldings and down the corners and vacuumed. I can’t move the big furniture but I cleaned behind the small pieces in the dinning room.

Dusting and cleaning of the furniture will be done as I move things back out from the closet to their proper places. I’m moving a few books around. Some from up here are going back downstairs and a few of the ones downstairs I’m moving up here.

I’ll may work some more this afternoon while I wash a load of towels.

Partly cloudy again today with temperatures in the upper 50’s and breezy.

I started back in on getting the Christmas decorations down this morning. Once I had those all boxed up in their tubs and boxes I took a break for lunch. This afternoon I worked on the tree and got it hauled out the door. The only thing left to do is pack it all back in the foyer closet.

I did a quick vacuum to get the worst of the needles up from the dinning room and foyer floors so I don’t track them through the house but the rest can wait until Sunday cleaning day.

Partly cloudy and warm again today with temperatures in the low 60’s and a breeze. We had about 0.2 tenths of an inch of rain last night. Not much but it helps. We are still terribly short of rainfall over the last few months.

I started working on taking down the Christmas decorations. It will take me several days but no hurry. Today I will work on the village. Then see where I go from there.

While I started on that I put the year round table toppers in the wash along with the bed spread and the decorative towels in the hall bath.

Mostly cloudy off and on all day today with temperatures in low 60’s. We had a light sprinkle overnight but nothing measurable.

I volunteered at the bookstore today. We were very busy most of the day. When I left we were almost at the $100 mark and may go over since there were still a few people in the store shopping. I really good sales day.

Tuesday December 28, 2021

Warm and sunny today with highs in the low 60’s and not as breezy.

Grocery store this morning to pick up a few odds and ends. I do not buy the lettuce bags that were recalled. Instead, I buy lettuce grown on a farm in North Carolina. Even so, there was a shortage of their lettuce this morning. I asked the young man putting up produce. He said the recall affected their supplies of lettuce from the warehouse. They did a few packages of one of the mixes I will eat. Otherwise, I picked a few extra items for the pantry.

I changed the sheets then went outside to do a few things since it’s so warm. More leaves get up from the corners along the steps and porch from the swirling winds. I dug a few weeds and trimmed back the dead leaves on the lamb’s ear.
