Mostly sunny and breezy today with some 15 to 20 mph gusts.

I volunteered at the bookstore from 11 to 2. We are short staffed and with Colin on the mend I went in to hold down the fort overlapping Anne and Jane’s shifts. Saturdays are always are best day for customers and sales.

As I said, Colin is on the mend. I may let him go out loose with his vibration collar starting this afternoon.

Mostly sunny and breezy today with low humidity and temps in the upper 70’s.

I went to gym and the library this morning. Colin continues to be doing well with his recovery. I am keeping an eye on the sutures which are looking good. Still doing leash walks at least another day or two.

It was 49 degrees when I walked Colin at 6 am this morning. Lots of sunshine today with a bit of a breeze and a high in the low 70’s.

Despite all the rain the flowers in the ground and the pots dry out quickly especially with the wind and sun yesterday. I watered everything this morning then took a break before going back out to prune the new growth on the quince bush. Want to keep it at the size it is now. Deadhead a few flowers and cut the dead peony blooms off then called it quits.

Off course kept Colin inside. Sutures looking good but need to keep him semi contained as possible for another few days.

Sunny today but cool with temps in the mid 70’s and breezy with 15 mph wind gusts at times.

Changed the sheets this morning and did a few odds and ends in the house.

Still trying to keep Colin from overdoing things. We’ve been on several walks and playing on the couch but he is wants to do more. Surgical site is looking good but today is his first day off the pain medication.

Mostly sunny and breezy today with temps in the mid 70’s.

I spent an hour or so working outside this morning. I sprayed Roundup along the grass side of the natural area along the driveway, deadheaded a few flowers, and pulled weeds around the flowers.

Colin continues to be doing well.

Monday June 14, 2021

I am reading Cat Me If You Can by Miranda James.

Mostly sunny today and breezy with temps in the upper 70’s. Forecast did not predict the rain that started around 10 pm last ahead of a thunderstorm that brought another inch of rain. I sat on the couch until 11:30 to try and keep Colin as calm as possible then came back to bed and he settled down for the rest of the night.

Spending today just trying to keep him entertained on the couch and not do a lot of jumping around, walks on the leash, etc.

Sunday June 13, 2021

Foggy this morning then mostly sunny with temps in the upper 70’s, Lots of heavy downpours yesterday between bouts of sunshine. All total around 3 inches of rain over the last few days.

Colin is doing well. It’s very stressful for him and me not being able to play. He goes looking for his ball. We can play tug on the couch with his rubber bone and pacifier. I’ve been taking him for walks on the leash around the yard to break up his boredom.

Frances and Al left around 10 this morning. I cleaned the bathrooms, dusted, and did a load of towels. Since Colin attacks the vacuum and I did not want to put him out in the garage I dry swept the worst of the dog hair to make do for now.

Saturday June 12, 2021

Rain, rain, and more rain.  Off and on showers yesterday and last night. More of the same today with heavy rain possible at times.

I was at the vets at 8:30 to pick up Colin. He is much more like his old self today. No jumping or playing for two weeks and has to be walked on a leash.. Right now he is still in recovery mode and tires easily but  not sure how I am going to keep him contained once he starts feeling better.

Stitches are under the skin and not a problem but vet wants those muscles and the area around the wound to heal.

Al will be up sometime this afternoon.

Friday June 11, 2021

Thunderstorms yesterday with more rain. Kept James from mowing. We lost power for about half an hour. More of the same for today with temps in the mid 70’s and humid. It sprinkled this morning but James was able to get the yard mowed.

I went to the vets to visit Colin. They let me walk him but they want to keep him again overnight to make sure he is still doing okay with his recovery. He is still very sore and lethargic but vet says he is much better. He ate some wet food and is drinking. Broke my heart to have to leave him but it’s for the best to make sure all is well before he comes home tomorrow.

Frances is working. I did the laundry but that’s about all.

Thursday June 10, 2021

I took Colin out around 6 am as usual after he ate his breakfast. He was acting just fine. Unless I have to be somewhere I always go back to bed.

When I woke up later he did not come jump on the bed as usual. I went looking for him and he had gone downstairs to the guest bedroom where I likes to go sometimes.

Long story short I showered and ate breakfast and finally coaxed him upstairs but he continued to not act his usual self so I finally decided to take him to the vet.

Good thing I did. After blood work and scans they saw a tumor in his spleen and what looked like blood. Vet did emergency surgery. Said he had several but thinks they caught this early.

I saw him when I woke up from surgery then came on home. Hopefully if he continues to improve tonight and tomorrow he can come home tomorrow afternoon. I am having the tumor sent off to see if is cancerous.

In the meantime I called Frances and Al to let them know what was going on. Al brought Frances up to stay with me and has gone back home to take care of things in Winston.
