Sunny but brutal outside today. 50 mph wind gusts with temps in the mid 30’s. Wind chill is down in the teens.
I decided not to go to the bookstore. Just too cold and windy for me to get out. Instead I did the first of the month accounting and paid some bills. And there is always the odds and ends household chores to keep up with.
Rain, heavy rain, this morning. Cloudy with more rain today. Windy tonight with 50 mph gusts. We are going from 58 this afternoon to 28 by overnight. Any moisture left will turn to snow showers.
Went to the gym then stopped at the store. Thankfully the deluge had slacked off to a light rain.
The man that repaired my roof last year from the earthquake damage stopped by to have a look around to see what needs repaired. He will put me on his list. I have a lot of cracked cement around the rocks.

James mowed for the first time of the year. Even though it was only high in places it looks better.
I had a 2:15 appointment with my GP. Wanted to discuss the stuff still going on with my back and see what he thought in terms of long range issues. Also had some blood work drawn to see where things are.
Stopped by the library and the earthquake management office. I had the chimney and roof repaired last year after the earthquake thinking that was all the major repairs I needed done. Now, I have discovered some more damage to rock walls. They will come out and do an assessment. May as well get the money that is available to have things fixed based on what they find.
Wicked storms last night. Colin hid downstairs with Frances and Al. Thunder shook the house at times. Guess we had at least 2.5 inches of rain. More rain this morning. Hopefully we are finished with mother nature for today in terms of bad weather. Temperatures dropping back down into the 30’s tonight.
Frances and Al left after lunch. Washing a load of towels and I ran the vacuum and did some dusting.
We’ve spent the day lazing around watching TV and talking.
Weather is warm but we are under severe thunderstorm watches and warnings this afternoon. So, we decided to stick close to home rather than venture out.
Sunny and warm with temps in the low 60’s but 15 to 20 mph winds with gusts to 45 until mid afternoon.
I ran a couple of errands in town. When I got back home James was working on hauling off the brush from the apple tree.
I am doing a load of laundry. Frances and Al will be up this evening.

Drove down to Winston today for my annual mammogram. Rain and fog all the way down and back but nothing torrential. May get some thunderstorms this afternoon.
Stopped in the Wal-Mart grocery store which is right by my OB/GYN office and picked up a couple of things I needed,

Gym this morning and grocery store. This afternoon odds and ends household stuff and change and wash the linens.
Today is a day of firsts. I drove down to Winston to meet my friends from the law firm for lunch for the first time in over a year. We met the last time just before Covid hit and then I later contracted my back infection.
It’s also the first time in a year I have eaten in a restaurant. I was never one to eat out much except with friends anyway. Since I have more or less been back on my feet I still only eat at home. The only time I’ve done take out was when Al and Frances are here or my friend JoAnn brought me something.
We met at the restaurant in the building where the law firm is located. It’s counter service and was not very busy since we met at 1. Wore out masks except to eat.
Nice weather down there. Warm and sunny. Cloudy and cool up here.
