Diaries

Mostly sunny and nice today with highs in the mid to upper 70’s. We had a heavy rain storm come through last evening bringing a couple more tenths of rain.

Yesterday was very busy at the store bringing in over $200.00. Today was not as busy but we did make over $100.00. Friday thru Sunday is the annual route 21 yard sale. People set up tents in parking lots and spaces all along the highway to sell their junk. That brings a lot of folks into town for lunch and also brought us a lot of traffic.

Cloudy with light rain this morning. The sun came out this afternoon. High’s in the mid to upper 70’s and a bit more humid than usual.

Joyce had something come up so I worked at the store again today. We were steady with customers most of the day with a short lull early this afternoon. But, we still did over $100.00 so a good day.

Cloudy and cool today with highs in the low to mid 70’s. Off and on rain showers with an occasional sunshine this afternoon. Good, steady rain downtown. I’ve only had about half an inch here but whatever the amount it is needed. Grass is still brown in places but greening up a bit with the off and on rain showers the last couple of days.

A busy day at the store. The Fiddler’s Convention was at the fairgrounds so we had a lot of folks in town for that. Almost made $200.00.

Warm today with highs in the mid 80’s but a nice day with low humidity and a breeze.

I have been asked to serve on our local library board. Tonight was the first meeting so I left the store to go straight to the library for my meeting. Being a new board member myself and another new member met with the chair of the board and the librarian at 4 pm to get us up to speed before the actual meeting which started at 5:30.

Being a retired librarian it will fun to serve on the “other side” as I do as a member of the Friends of the Library.

Went to the gym this morning then drove over to Galax, VA to run some errands at Lowe’s and Wal-Mart. Monday is a good day to hit both those places as they are usually not very busy. Found what I needed at Lowe’s and Wal-Mart plus stocked up on a few pantry items I was getting low on.

Changed the sheets and did a few other odds and ends in the house this afternoon.

Two busy days at the store making almost $200 yesterday and today. Lot’s of folks from out of town for family events or to escape the heat down the mountain. Several small to medium donations came in to work on between customers.

A busy day at the store. A lot of folks up here to beat the heat down the mountain. Had several nice conversations with folks from Winston and surrounding areas. We did make over $100.00. July is starting out as a great month for the store.
