Happy birthday to Al, and, remembering Bob. He would have been 70 today.

It’s warm and sunny today. Temperatures are in the low to mid 70’s and breezy. The winds are blowing in some of the smoke from the wild fires in Canada.

First thing this morning I repainted the two little wrought iron tables that sit on the porch. I had planned to replace them but could not find anything I wanted. Maybe in the fall I will look around again.

I did some more battling with the weeds, cut back the dianthus that had finished blooming, and trimmed back the quince bush to keep in control.

That was enough for one morning and the smoke was getting a little thick so I called it a day for outdoors.

Monday June 5, 2023

After a foggy, drizzly morning the sun came out and temperatures climbed into the low 70’s.

I went to the gym and grocery store. They were stocking shelves all over the store. I picked up the usual weekly lettuce and milk along with a couple of pantry items on sale.

Home and lunch then back to town for the Friends of the Library meeting.

Sunday June 4, 2023

Cloudy and fog this morning. Temperatures are cool again today with highs on in the upper 60’s. A chance of some more rain/thunderstorms this afternoon. We had another inch of rain from last night’s storms. Heard some thunder around 9 pm. So, over 5 inches of rain in the last few days. We’ll be begging for rain come July and August.

I did the usual house cleaning chores this morning and cleaned the shower. I only do it every other week. I need to wash the shower curtains in today’s towel load.

Other than laundry and some bills to pay I am not doing much the rest of the day.

Saturday June 3, 2023

It was hot and sunny today with temperatures in the low 80’s until about 4:30. Then the clouds moved in and we’ve had off and on downpours with thunder and intermittent sunshine since then.

Today was Music on Main starting at 5:00. They blocked off the streets at 2 pm to set up the main stage for the 7:00 event. They had two bands playing under tents on the street from 5 til 6:30.

We kept the store open until 7 to accommodate the folks being in town for the music.  The street music bands had folks sitting on the sidewalks under the store awnings during the rain storms.

We were busy all day with a few breaks off and on. I walked down the street during the lull to get some takeout for dinner. We broke the $300.00 ceiling so we had a very good day at the store.

Friday June 2, 2023

Sunny and warm today with highs in the upper 70’s and breezy.

Busy day at the bookstore. We broke the $100.00 ceiling. Lots of folks in town for the Fiber Festival. They stopped in the store on the way out of town to the fair grounds.

My friend Bonnie had spent the week in nearby Laurel Springs at a dulcimer camp and came through Sparta on the way home. She stopped at JB’s to get personal pan pizzas for our dinner while I came on home from the store. We had a nice visit before she took off for home.

Sunny and 62 degrees this morning when I left for Winston around 8:30.

Warm and sunny down there too. Ran several errands than on to my 11:30 haircut appointment. I always get there early in case, like today, she had an empty slot in front of me and could take me early.

I headed back up the mountain getting home around 1 pm. James was mowing just finishing up the mowing. Finally a nice, warm, sunny day with just a breeze. Temps climbed into the low 70’s.

After fixing a quick snack for lunch I went back outside. I washed the car and swept off the front porch. While the car was out of the garage I swept that part of the floor and tidied up out there a bit.

Wednesday May 31, 2023

Cloudy, breezy and more rain this morning. Another 5 tenths of an inch but really; do not need anymore rain. Temperatures were in the low 60’s when I left for the store but it’s warmed up into the low 70’s and the sun has finally come out.

We were pretty all day up until the last thirty minutes or so. We almost broke the $100.00 ceiling. A good day for the last day of the month.

Tuesday May 30, 2023

I had planned to do some weeding when I got back from the gym. We had a couple of rain showers early and it looked like it was going to clear up. But, it was raining again when I got back from the gym and too wet.

It’s sunny and breezy this afternoon. Temperatures have made it into the upper 60’s. I went over to Donna’s to visit her and the dog pack for awhile. I may try to get out and pull some weeds now that the sun is trying to come out.

Monday May 29, 2023

May get some sunshine today with breezy skies and temperatures in the low 60’s. 4 inches of rain fell from late Saturday night until this morning. Most of it fell yesterday and last night. It was good soaking rain. Harder at times but no gully washers. I think I heard some thunder early this morning. There is still a chance of rain showers later in the day.

Nothing much going on here. I went to the gym them back home. Did not need anything from the store. I need to change the sheets and do some odds and ends in the house.

Sunday May 28, 2023

Cold and rain today. We may just barely make it into the lower 50’s today with off and on heavy rain showers. So far we’ve only had a little over half an inch.

I did the usual house cleaning chores this morning. Some work here at my computer this afternoon and the laundry but otherwise not much else going on.
