Diaries

Rain early this morning than skies cleared with temperatures making it into the upper 60’s. Around 3 pm we had a pretty good thunderstorm with a lot of lightening and more rain. I’ve had a total of an inch and half here at the house. It’s still storming but looks like it’s moving out of here soon.

This morning the store was dead quiet. We had only made eight dollars by 1 o’clock. Then all of sudden the store was full of people and we leapt over the $100.00 ceiling in two hours. Mostly out of town folks today. In between we had several donations to work on.

Sunny and warm today with temperatures in the low 70’s and a slight breeze.

I had a nine am appointment in Elkin this morning to check on my tooth extraction and bone graft. Everything looked fine. I still have to be careful eating for another week. I go back the end of June for the next phase of the process.

From there I drove over to the Amish furniture place. They were closed but I was able to look at the side tables for the porch he had on display outside. Gave me some ideas but want to look some more.

I came back up the mountain, stopped by the house, then decided to drive over to Galax, VA to Wal-Mart to look for a few things. I found most of what I was looking for in the grocery section but they were out of few things but nothing crucial.

Headed back home. Fixed some lunch and did some chores in the kitchen. James is here mowing now.

A nice day with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the low 70’s.

The store was moderately busy with some browsers just looking. We had a good day in sales but did not break the $100.00 ceiling. But, a good start to the week.

Finally, some sunshine with temperatures in the mid 50’s and calm winds.

I did the usual house cleaning chores this morning. Did some work here at the computer this afternoon and the laundry.

The mesh feeder has been inundated with black birds. I’ve not seen much of the titmice, chickadees, or yellow finches lately. Hopefully the blackbirds will move on. I do have a pair of cardinals on the other feeder and a few purple finches.

Chilly and rain again today with highs only in the mid 30’s. Chilly again tonight but I think the rain is moving out by tomorrow.

After a slow morning things picked up at the bookstore. Mostly out of town folks today and we did break the $100.00. Wendy and I held down the fort in the absence of Pat. A good end to the week.

Chilly and wet today. Temperatures started out in the upper 40’s but have been falling all day along with  a steady rain and breezy. It’s in the upper 30’s now.

We had a good day at the store. Lot of out of town visitors as well as a few regulars. We almost broke the $200.00 but just a few dollars short. Lots of families in with various aged children. They all checked out kids books which is always great to see.

The day started out sunny and warm with highs in the low 70’s. Thunderstorms rolled in this afternoon bringing some heavy rain in town and dropping the temperatures 10 degrees. We are supposed to go from the 70’s down to the upper 40’s by tonight so more storms may be in the wings.

Moderately slow day at the store. We had a couple of good sales to make it a good day but did not quit break the $100.00 ceiling.

Did not get enough rain to even register in the electronic rain gauge here at the house. James mowed earlier in the day. He was coming up the street just as I got home and stopped so I could pay him.
