Mostly sunny and warm again today with highs in the low 70’s and breezy.

The bookstore was slow today but we had a few busy moments. I worked by myself until 2. Joyce had to be at home to wait on a repairman and our Wednesday afternoon person was off this week.

We did not break the $100.00 ceiling but we did okay with more customers this afternoon than this morning.

Yesterday when I was out picking up sticks I found a few more of the roof shingles in the yard and noticed some still lying on the roof in the back. I called George. He said he would be by today to take a look. He has come and gone since the shingles I found that were stacked in front of the other garage door are gone.

Mostly sunny and warm today with highs in the low 70’s and breezy.

I changed the sheet this morning then headed outside. Two hours and four wheel barrow loads later I had the yard cleared of all the big sticks and limbs from the last wind event. Again, it was just impossible to pick up all the little twigs. James can mow over them.

Hopefully that will be the last big blow for awhile. Next projects needs to be getting things spruced up in the natural areas along the porch and driveway. I may have lot a little bush I brought up from Winston that was killed by both the wind and cold. I’ll give it a few weeks to see if any green shows up from the bottom.

Sunny today with highs in the low 60’s and breezy.

Gym and grocery store this morning. Just picked up the usual weekly milk and salad stuff plus a couple of odds and ends.

I had Friends of the Library meeting this afternoon. The bookstore had a great month for March in sales which is usually one of our slowest months.

Sunday March 2, 2023

A wild night with winds gusting over 65 mph. Yesterday afternoon the wind blew the gas grill the sits up against the house across the deck twice. I finally managed to wedge two extra tanks around the base to keep it in place. I found what I think are are ridge cap shingles in the yard off the roof but I don’t think it is anything serious. I’ll have George take a look next time he is over.

Otherwise, all looks okay. Lots of debris down to pick up. But, we are lucky compared to Little Rock.

Today is the usual house cleaning and laundry chores. Fixing the rice this afternoon for stir fry. I am still eating soft foods and avoiding the surgical site for the rest of the week.

Saturday April 1, 2023

Started off this morning with heavy rain and wind. Temperatures in the low 50’s. We are under high wind warning until tomorrow morning. 30 to 35 mph winds with gusts over 65. The rain blew out bringing lots of sunshine with the winds. Temps tonight are supposed to drop down into the upper 30’s.

We had good day at the store for our half price paperback sale. We made over $150.00 with folks in the store all day from time we opened until about half an hour before we closed.

As I was leaving the store I saw several rescue vehicles down the side street that goes behind the store. A roof had blown off one of the end buildings. Hope on one was hurt.

Chilly and cloudy all day with off and on drizzle. Temperatures made it into the low 50’s with breezy conditions.

An off and on slow day but we did break the $100.00 ceiling. Had a few small donations come in to work on. So, three days in a row of over a hundred dollars to finish out the month.

Thursday March 30, 2023

Another nice, warm day. We made it into the low 60’s with light winds.

James came this morning to mow for the first time. The grass was higher than I realized until.

I left for Elkin around 12:45 for my appointment with the oral surgeon. My tooth ache turned out to be a broken root. I had a root canal on that tooth five years ago or so. The tooth had a crack where it goes into the bone.

Pulled the tooth and put in a bone graph and a light membrane to cover that and help the bone heal. I go back for a follow up in two weeks. Then in three months they do the mandible implant then it’s three more months to put in the post then finally a crown on top of it all. Takes about 8 months to complete the process.

I was out there by 3:30 then had to stop at the drugstore back here to get my antibiotic prescription filled.

Wednesday March 29, 2023

Sunny today and warm with temperatures in the mid 50’s and a slight breeze.

We had an interesting day at the store. Not a lot of people in but we had several big sales that pushed us well over the $100.00 ceiling. In between I worked on a big donation sorting books, pricing, etc. Anyway, a good start to the week.

Tuesday March 28, 2023

Cloudy this morning. Rain this afternoon with temperatures in the upper 40’s and breezy. Out brief run of warm weather is over for awhile. However, the weeds in the natural area in front of the porch think it is summer. I need to get out there and do some digging.

Gym this morning then the library to return and pick up books. Not much else happening.

Monday March 27, 2023

Foggy this morning with light rain showers when I left for the gym. Made a quick stop at the grocery store for the weekly lettuce, milk, etc.

The sun has come out this afternoon but we have gusting winds around 40 mph with temperatures in the mid 60’s. We drop back down into the upper 40’s tonight.
