Dreary and wet today. We’ve had about half an inch of rain overnight and today. Cold front is coming in behind bringing gusty winds and cooler temperatures. We made it into the low 60’s today.

We were busier the bookstore than sales reflected though we did make over $70.00. In between customers I priced books that were brought in and straightened shelves. Now need to go rest.

Cloudy with off and on drizzle and fog with breezy conditions.

I drove over to Lowes in Jefferson this morning to buy a new refrigerator. Last year when it started acting up I had the electronic board replaced. The temperatures in the fridge and freezer stayed regulate for awhile but had now started acting up again. I had to move all my freezer stuff out the one in the garage. Plus, it makes this constant gurgling noise that I am tired of listening to.

I am limited to make and model because of a confined space to 18 cu. ft. so I went with another top freezer which is fine for me. This one is a Whirlpool we bought up here but has only lasted 4 years. The only option I could fine in what I was looking for was a Frigidaire.

Back home I fixed some lunch then took down and packed up the wreaths and finished putting all the stuff back in the closet.  I vacuumed up the worst of the pine needles to keep from tracking them all over the house.

Now I am working on first of the year spreadsheets and file folders and paying the first of the month bills.

Mostly sunny today with temperatures in the upper 50’s and a breezy.

I went to the gym and the grocery store. Picked up the usual lettuce and milk along with a few items for the pantry and the freezer.

I took a shower then sat down to watch the Rose Parade. Joanne texted me around 12:30 to see if i wanted to go to lunch. We went to lunch at Circle L.

While I undecorated the tree she sat and visited then help me haul out down to the woods in the back corner then sat and visited for a while longer.

I need to get the everything organized to go back in the closet then start on the cleaning process.

Happy New Year. Thank you to everyone who takes time to stop by here for a visit. I know there are days when I have little to post but I use this as my daily diary. I sometimes need to go back to see what I did on particular day.

Partly sunny today with temperatures in the low 50’s and a light breeze.

After I did bathroom cleaning chores I put in a load of laundry and started taking down Christmas decorations. Everything is down and packed back into tubs including the village. I will take the tree down tomorrow.

Around 1:45 I left to drive over to one of my friends house here in Sparta who lost her husband Christmas day. I’ve been staying in touch via phone and text but had not gotten over for a visit yet. I stayed for a couple of hours. She has a Yorkie that just gave birth to 4 pups and I wanted to see them as well as offering my condolences in person.

Saturday December 31, 2022

Cloudy all day with off and on drizzle, calm winds, and temperatures in the low 50’s.

We had a very busy day at the bookstore. We had broken the $100.00 ceiling by noon. Things tapered off a bit this afternoon but we still made almost $180.00 dollars for the day. A wonderful end to the year for the store.

Things will start to  wind down for the next few months with mostly regulars coming in.

Friday December 30, 2022

The day started out mostly sunny but clouds moved in this afternoon bringing light rain and temperatures in the low 50’s. Rain will continue over night.

Busy day at the bookstore. We broke the $100.00 for the third day in a row. Joyce had a good day yesterday. Lots of interesting folks in today visiting from out of town and a few regulars.

Sunny and warm today with temperatures in the mid 50’s and calm winds.

I went to the gym this morning and the library to drop off and pick up books.

Frances and Al gave me a set of solar lights to put in front of the porch. Even though the temperatures are mild the top layer of the ground is still frozen. I made a hole with an old screwdriver in order to get the stake in the ground that holds the light assembly. The box came with six but I only put out four keeping two in reserve.

Then I used 409 to remove the stains left on the new deck from the fall leaves that had accumulated in the corner under the door. Next year I need to remember to keep them swept off the deck to prevent from occurring again.

Wednesday December 28, 2022

After a chilly start to the day things have warmed up into the mid 40’s with lots of sunshine and calm winds.

We had a slow start at the bookstore but it picked up around lunch time through the afternoon. We broke the $150.00 ceiling which was a nice day. Several large sales contributed to the total.

Tuesday December 27, 2022

Sunny today with calm winds and temperatures in the upper 30’s. A heat wave compared to the single digits last weekend.

I went to the gym and stopped at the grocery store to pick up a couple of items.

Not much else going on this afternoon.

Monday December 26, 2022

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

I left Saturday around 11 for Winston. Frances fixed chili for dinner Christmas Eve. Sunday we put out cold cuts, salads, dips. etc. to eat on while opening gifts. We had a fun day. Al is continuing to to get better though still has to take it easy.

I packed up and headed home this morning. It was cold down there with temperatures in the teens and breezy. Temperatures up here have warmed up from single digits into the upper 20’s for today and calmer winds.

After getting the car unloaded I put in a load of towels from last week and working on getting stuff put away.
