22 degrees, sunny, and windy. I needed to make a Wal-Mart run in Galax to pick up some odds and ends plus went ahead and did the weekly grocery shopping.

Getting there early and as cold as it is the store was not so crowded.

I have finally solved the problem of the wind blowing the seed out of the mesh feeder. I tied two plastic grocery bags tougher at the handles and wrapped them around the mesh affixed with bungee cords. I then bungee corded the lid down attaching those to the mesh wire. Last night winds were at least in the 50 mph range and my fix was still in place this morning.

I am reading Dead In Vineyard Sand by Philip R. Craig.

52 degrees with fog and drizzle. This morning was cloudy but now the sun has come out and winds are blowing again at our usual 15 to 25 mph. Temps are to start dropping this afternoon  with low 20’s for tonight and 50 mph wind gusts.

I volunteered at the bookstore this morning then stopped by the library to pick up a couple of books. With the library closed the middle of next week I need to stock up on my usual series/authors I am reading. But I always have something on my TBR shelf I can pick up. I am so grateful we can order books from libraries all over the state to keep me supplied in books that I would otherwise have to buy. I also have some on my Fire.

Monday December 16, 2019

I went to the gym for my workout then back home to let Colin out before heading over to Joyce’s house. She needed help loading a file cabinet in her car. We left her house for the bookstore. The filing cabinet was going in our annex. The bookstore is is part of what used to be sublet apartments. Our store is on one side and a consignment craft store is across the hallway. Behind the craft shop is part of what was another apartment when we have as our annex where we store extra books to be sorted, holiday stuff, etc. That room has one big room and two small rooms.

Joyce wanted to clean up and rearrange the back room we use for an “office” to put the filing cabinet. The next small room we also cleaned out/up and reorganized that area. We emptied several small boxes of odds and ends into big storage tubs and consolidated some other stuff. A big pile of junk went in her car to the dump/recycling center.

We took a break to go next door to eat lunch then went back to finish organizing and cleaning up the big room. We worked from 10 to 2 which included our lunch break. All told, it looks much better.

Sunday December 15, 2019

Sunny again today with temperatures in the mid 40’s and winds at 10 to 15 mph.

I vacuumed, dusted and cleaned the bathroom downstairs first this morning before doing the same up here. Refilled the mesh bird feeder now that the winds have died down and put out the new suet cake. My red bellied woodpecker and several nuthatches have already been feeding on it.

Not much going on this afternoon.

I am reading Death At Gallows Green by Robin Paige.

42 degrees with light rain this morning when I took Colin out. Rain has moved out followed by 15 to 25 mph winds and sunshine. It’s currently 44 degrees which will be the high for the day as temps fall to 32 by tonight and the winds hang around.

Laundry and other assorted projects for today including mixing up another suet cake to chill in the fridge for the birds.

Friday December 13, 2019

33 degrees with rain/freeing rain falling. Sidewalk, steps, and driveway were slick with freezing rain that fell over night. I left for the gym about 9 to get in a quick workout before I had to get back home and then back to work my shift.

The roads were actually better this morning than they were Wednesday morning. Colin slipped going out this morning so I put some play sand I keep in the garage down on the steps and sidewalk.

Temperatures are in the upper 30’s with just rain and fog this afternoon. More rain tonight but temperatures are supposed to stay above freezing.

I am reading Blood in the Cotswolds by Rebecca Tope.

24 degrees, sunny, and calm this morning when I left for the gym. Sunny but chilly today with highs in the low 30’s but thankfully no wind. Nasty stuff coming in tonight; freezing rain, sleet, etc.

I was home and back to the gym to work.

Wednesday December 10, 2019

34 degrees with 15 mph winds when I left for the gym. The deck was covered in sleet. and the driveway and sidewalk iced over from the mixed precipitation that fell over night. My road was just partially frozen over and the the main roads were fine. The road the gym is on was a little worse but no problem for the Subaru.

We may have more of the same starting tomorrow night into Friday so I made a grocery store stop on the way home today. Temperatures are in the upper 30’s with 15 to 20 mph winds. Cold but clear for tonight.

Temperature this morning was 53 degrees with a light drizzle. This afternoon temperatures continue to fall with off and on rain reaching 23 degrees by tonight. Rain may turn to snow and\or ice by overnight.

I volunteered at the bookstore this morning. Poor Colin, no outdoor playtime two days in a row due to the wet weather. Lots of indoor ball playing this afternoon.
