Very thick fog this morning. The sun is trying to peak out now but we have rain turning to snow starting tonight.

This morning’s project was more work on the master closet. I pulled out the last of Bob’s clothing for Cares and cleaned out and reorganized the drawers in the two dressers in the closet used for storage. I still have some work to do in there but I made a dent.

Gym and a couple of errands this morning. When I arrived back home James was here loading the brush pile to haul off. I let Colin out to run around while I visited with James for awhile.

Today is another spring teaser. Temperatures in the mid to upper 50’s with partly cloudy skies and no wind to speak of. I worked out in the garage for awhile and then did some work at my desk.

Sunday March 18, 2018

Sunny, warm, and no wind. I spent the morning cleaning; putting stuff away, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms.

This afternoon while I watch the NCAA basketball games I will run a couple of loads of laundry. Right now, my desk needs some major attention.

Saturday March 17, 2018

Just as I was getting up, around 7:45 I heard a strange noise outside. I looked out on the deck to see little white sleet pellets. It sleeted for about 2 minutes before then turned to rain when I walked to the end of the drive to get the paper.

Several years ago we sold heirloom seed kits. We did not use all the bulk seeds I bagged up in the kits and Bob never did another batch to sell. Some I had been planting in the garden but there was hundreds of bagged seeds left in the bin sitting in the garage. I kept ones we plant but hauled the rest to an agricultural event that included a seed swap over in Jefferson at their community center. I was there about two hours and managed to give away most of the seeds. The remaining ones went to the lady representing the local library where the have a seed giveaway program.

Al thinks they salt the roads heavy in Sparta. He should see Ashe county. It rained a little on the way over but the sun was out by the time I headed back home. The car was covered even worse in salt and road grime than when I left here. It’s still terribly windy though warm so I pulled out the hose and gave the car a quick rinse since they are calling for more rain tomorrow and Monday.

Hershel, the plumber from Shaw Brothers showed up about a little after 8 this morning. He fixed the master bath toilet flapper and changed the water filter.

After he left I pulled the Trooper out so Cares could get the shelving unit loaded onto their truck. While I waited on them I started working on that side of the garage. Once they left with the shelf and the old folding table that had my gardening supplies I started getting some stuff arranged. I worked on that for another hour before calling it quits for the day.

This afternoon I had a list of errands to run finishing up at the grocery store. It is sunny and mild again today but the winds are still howling at 15 to 25 mph with gusts over 40. I need to wash the car but it’s too windy.

Thursday March 15, 2018

I just finished reading Paige Shelton’s Of Books and Bagpipes.

I worked at the Friends bookstore this morning filling in for a regular. I’ve been working there off and on at various times as needed since the first of March.

Sunny  and  49 degrees today but windy, 25 to 30 mph, with gusts close to 50 mph. Most of the snow has either melted or blown away. The shutters sound like they are going to blow off the house.

Wednesday March 14, 2018

Off to the gym this morning. The roads were mostly clear except on the side street to the Wellness Center. I have several errands to run on the way home.

The sun is out but it is cold and windy. 29 degrees with 21 mph winds gusting to over 30. Snow is blowing all over the place. Spending the rest of the day working on projects, etc.

Howling winds last night blew some of the snow I shoveled in piles along the driveway back onto the driveway. Fortunately, just a thin layer which proceeded to freeze over night. Still windy today but lots of sunshine to melt off the driveway.

I vacuumed the downstairs and cleaned that bathroom this morning. Working on various projects this afternoon.

Monday March 12, 2018

We somewhere between 2 and 3″ of snow when I took Colin out at 8:15. I changed the bed linens and worked on other projects until 11 then went out to shovel what was at least 5″. It’s a very wet snow. My newly purchased snow shovel did a much more efficient job of plowing than my old one.

It is still snowing lightly but what is hitting the driveway is melting. We may get off and on snow this afternoon and tonight but I doubt much more in the way of accumulation.

With the kit stuff gone from the lab area downstairs and the garage I have a lot of reorganizing options. The wooden bookshelf that held the small parts bins and supplies is not suitable for storing garage and gardening stuff. Saturday, Al and I pulled it out in between the cars for Cares to haul off and moved the free standing shelves Bob had just purchased for the lab area up to the garage in place of the bookshelf.

Sunday March 11, 2018

We spent a relaxing morning watching old episodes of Blue Bloods. We took a break for Frances and Al to get their things together and I did a quick vacuum  of the house. We watched a couple more episodes then they headed back to Winston.

It’s another cool, cloudy, rainy day.
