I worked at the store Wednesday until 2:00. Stopped by the house then headed down to Winston. Frances fixed enchiladas for dinner Wednesday night.

Thanksgiving day we watched the parade, the dog show, and movies on Hallmark. Frances and Al cooked up a wonderful meal which included baked chicken and pork tenderloin, green beans, mixed veggies, dressing, and several desserts.

Friday we ran some errands and ate lunch out at the barbecue restaurant then home and leftovers for dinner.

This morning I left Winston around 8:30 for home. After I unloaded the car and put away the leftovers in the fridge I went in to work at the bookstore. Joyce had a big day yesterday breaking the $200 ceiling but had to work by herself. Today we broke the $200 ceiling again. The Christmas parade was today. Temperatures in the upper 30’s and breezy but a lot of folks turned out.

A lovely, rainy day with temperatures in the upper 30’s. Well over an inch so far. We are very dry with wild fires in several nearby NC and VA counties.

I went to the gym then stopped at the library to return and pick up books. Made a quick stop at the grocery store and found the lettuce I like they were out of yesterday.

More Christmas prep stuff to work on this afternoon.

Monday November 20, 2023

Mostly cloudy today with highs in the low 50’s and wind 10 to 15 mph winds.

Gym and grocery store then back home. Busier than usual for a Monday with folks shopping for their Thanksgiving foods. I picked up milk and a few other things but they were out of my lettuce. I may stop by again tomorrow while in town to see if some came in.

I have some odds and ends to do in the house today in preparation for pulling out the Christmas decorations next week.

Sunny today with brisk winds and temperatures in the mid 50’s.

Busy day at the store. Lots of shoppers and several big donations to work on in between customers. We almost broke the $200.00 ceiling so a good day all around. We also have a donation jar on the desk. We took in  lot in donations today as well as in sales.

Mostly sunny today with highs in the low 60’s and a slight breeze.

We were busy off and on with decent sales. We had one book jobber that is a regular customer which took us over the $100.00 ceiling.

I had a couple of donations to work on between customers. Then, after work I met Donna and Debra at The Cellar for a nice evening of wine and good conversation.

Sunny and mild today with highs in the mid 50’s. We need rain. Most of our area us under a burning ban and not much of the way of rain in sight.

Slow day in sales at the store but I had a 15 box donation that took most of the day to process. Joyce left early for a meeting so I held down the fort until closing.

Monday November 13, 2023

Sunny and breezy today with highs in the upper 50’s.

Changed the sheets then went to the gym and grocery store. Picked up weekly items plus a couple of things for the pantry.

Winds were light so I decided to blow the leaves from the two beds in the front of the porch. Manged to get them blown to the side yard beyond the porch when the wind picked up and shifted from straight behind me to right to left. I was about halfway to the natural area so I raked them them rest of the way. It was pretty good sized pile but managed to most of them raked away so they don’t blow back in where they came from.

Uncovered some fairly good sized weeds that I need to dig up at some point. The rest of the leaves will rot away into the soil this winter.

Wash the sheets this afternoon and put away the pantry stuff.

Sunny and mild today with highs in the low 50’s and breezy.

We were busy all day at the store.  Locals as well as tourist and regulars who come in whenever they are in town. Broke the $300.00 ceiling. Thankfully, only had a few very nice small donations come in, since were busy selling books. Hardly managed to get a time out to eat some lunch.

Friday November 10, 2023

Cloudy with off and on drizzle most of the day. The temperature dropped from the low sixties this morning when I left for the store to the mid 40’s by this afternoon.

We had a good day at the store. Crowds of people then spells of not many to another crowd of people. Almost broke the $200.00 ceiling. Lots of local folks with family in town.

After work I met Donna and Linda at The Cellar. Enjoyed some wine and appetizers and good company for a few hours.

Thursday November 9, 2023

Sunny, breezy, and warm today with highs in the low 70’s.

Went to the gym then stopped by the library to pick up some books. From there I drove over to Galax, VA to Wal-Mart to do some shopping. I picked up some more stuff for the pantry as well as some other odds and ends. We are donating toiletries to the local Food Bank for our Friends of the Library Christmas project this year. Yes, it’s a Food Pantry but they get requests for those non food items that people often forget are in need. I picked up some of that stuff as well as my gift for the Christmas party.

Came home, showered, fixed lunch, and then unloaded and put away all the stuff.
