I am reading Bury The Lead by David Rosenfelt.

Mostly cloudy and breezy with temps in the mid to upper 70’s.

Grocery store this morning to pick up a few odds and ends.

Spent some time after lunch pulling weeds and grass.

The freezer is hosed. Several months ago when I was in the Lowe’s in Galax, VA I tried to look at freezers since I knew this one as most likely going to tank. They did not have any in stock and did not offer much hope of getting any soon.

I suspect the same it still true with all the shortages depending on where you live. I am not in a big need for one right now so will just think about what I will do next.

Cloudy today with temperatures in the upper 60’s and breezy. Went to the gym this morning.

Looks like the 24 year old non-defrosting freezer has finally gone south. The top shelf has been freezing over for several months but the unit was still freezing. Last night I pulled out a pizza which had crystals but was not frozen. Temperature in the freezer was 40 degrees. Thankfully the other food was still frozen.

Fortunately I have not been stocking up on a lot frozen food since I was afraid this was going to happen. I had room in the refrigerator freezer section for everything. Turned if off and unplugged it.

When I got back from the gym I wiped it down and plugged it back in and put the thermometer back.  Doubt it is going to work again but worth a try.

Off and on thunderstorms yesterday afternoon. Had enough rain to  water the plants. More of the same this afternoon.

I did go out and water the hanging pots on the on the porch and the ones that do not get rained on unless it blows in on the porch.

Vacuumed and cleaned the bathrooms and washed a load of towels.

I am reading Missing and Endangered by J.A. Jance.

Sunny this morning and 86 degrees. Thunderstorms this afternoon have dropped the temperature back down into the mid 70’s. It’s sunny now but we may get some more later this afternoon and evening.

Laundry and other assorted tasks this afternoon.

Sunny and warm today with temps in the mid 80’s.

Bonnie arrived around 10 from just north of the Winston area. We chatted for awhile then went into town. After shopping in a few stores we stopped for lunch at Horizon Bistro which is in the back of one of the bigger stores in town then back home and spent a couple of more hours visiting before she left around 4.

Thursday July 15, 2021

I spent this morning doing some outdoor chores since it was sunny and breezy with temps in the upper 70’s.

The aster that finished blooming needed cut back. I weeded the natural areas along the porch and the driveway and cut back the spent flower stems on the lilies that line the driveway. Neatened up the hanging pots and watered those and harvested a yellow squash from the deck.

I went into town to drop off and pick up some library books. Cloudy here but when I got to town it was pouring rain.

Thankfully not raining here since James should be here soon to mow. He was on vacation last week so it really needs it.

Al came up yesterday afternoon. This morning he drove me down to Winston for a year followup  endoscopy appointment. All went well. Path report in a couple of weeks.

Hot down in Winston. We hit some pretty hard rain halfway up the mountain then almost to my  house dry as a bone.

90 degrees in Winston and 75 up here. Al just left for home and now we are getting a rain shower.

Tuesday July 13, 2021

Mostly sunny and breezy today with temps in the upper 70’s. Still very cool for the middle of July.

I went to the grocery store this morning. Some shelves well stocked others not. I found what I needed except for my usual milk purchase. Sometimes they have the quart and other times, like today, I had to buy the half gallon. This happens every couple of weeks or so. The quart size has a longer shelf life so I do try to keep it stocked up. Though I did not need any I did notice the ice cream section was almost empty.

I watered the hanging baskets on the porch and the stuff on the deck. We’ve had enough off and on rain showers to keep the other flowers watered.

I am reading Triple Jeopardy by Anne Perry.

Mostly sunny today, breezy and warm with temps in the upper 70’s. Storms off and on yesterday and early evening bringing almost an inch of rain.

I went to gym this morning and ran a couple of errands while in town.

No internet or television all day yesterday. I found out last night some bozo knocked down the street sign pole on the corner and ran over the SkyBest telephone/cable box. I reported my outage at noon and they said it was on their end but did not know why. Someone finally reported the box down and they were working on it at 8 last night when I took Colin out.

Mostly sunny and warm today with highs in the upper 70’s but humid. May get a storm this afternoon.

I worked at the bookstore this morning from opening until 1 when Joyce came in.

Need to do the laundry this afternoon and give some attention to Colin.
