I had my other cataract eye surgery yesterday in Winston. All went well. Follow up visit was this morning then I headed back up the mountain. Now I am betwixt and between with my old glasses being useless. Distance vision is almost clear but I am wearing readers for close up stuff Frances  loaned me. I see the eye doctor next week. I am not one to go around hunting for glasses for reading so will mostly likely do half bifocals with clear on top and bottom for reading with the transition lenses like I use now.

It’s cloudy today with temps in the mid 50’s. May get a passing shower this afternoon.

This afternoon unpacking and getting things organized.

Fog, drizzle, and rain today with temperatures in the low 60’s.

I went to the gym then came home, changed the sheets, and did a few other things that needed attended to. Otherwise not much else going on.

Fog and drizzle this morning gave way to sunshine this afternoon. Temperatures went from mid 40’s this morning to the low 60’s.

We were busy  most of the day at the bookstore. Several large groups of friends or families were in. We broke the $100.00 ceiling. A good day to end the month.

Mostly sunny today. Low this morning in the mid 40’s. High today in the upper 50’s and breezy.

Slow day at the bookstore. Did not break the $100 ceiling but had an okay day with sales. A few of the customers just came in to browse but we are glad for any foot traffic this time of year.

A beautiful day in the mountains with clear blue skies and temperatures in the low 60’s

I went to the gym this morning. After an early lunch I left for Winston for my haircut. Then, back up the mountain. It was a pretty drive. Our leaves are almost past their peak color but down the mountain they are still pretty with some just now at their peak.

James skipped mowing last week but he had to come today. The grass was a little high but the back and side yard was a carpet of leaves. He had come and gone by the time I got back.

Sunny and breezy today with temperatures in the upper 50’s.

We had a fairly good day at the bookstore with customers. Did not break the $100 ceiling but that was okay. A guy this morning to see if we had a book in stock. Since we depend totally on donations it is a hit or miss situation. We did have it. It was a 1999 book so only cost $.50. I told him we would hold it for him,

He called around 2 and said it would be after 4 before he could get here. He was driving over from Boone, NC which is about 60 miles. We told him would wait for him since we close at 4. Joyce and I hung around and he finally showed up at 4:20. He was a student had ordered it online for a paper due Friday but it shipped to his address in Chapel Hill. He was so grateful we waited for him.

That type of thing makes out day for us volunteers at the store.

Fairly big boom this morning around 5:30. A 2.6 quake hit just down the road in Independence, VA which is just over the line. Shook the house but no damage.

I left for Winston around 8:30 this morning for my 10:15 followup appointment with my eye doctor. All is looking well. Still cannot lift over 30 pounds or bend over for a long period of time.

I ran a few errands then met my Firm friends for lunch at Willow’s Bistro then back up the mountain. Warm down there with temps in the mid 70’s. It’s 64 here with partly cloudy skies.

Another nice day in the mountains with temperatures in the mid 60’s and lots of sunshine.

George stopped by this morning to see what he needed to repair the wall downstairs. He will fix the wall where we left a cutout from the 2017 flood in case we needed to get back to those pipes for another leak. Now that all the water pipes have been rerun that hole is not necessary.

After he left I went to the gym then stopped by the store. They had my milk, juice, lettuce, and the deli turkey I like. That’s about all that going on for today.

Sunny and warm again today with temperatures in the low 60’s. Lows at night are staying in the mid to upper 40’s.

Frances and Al left mid morning to head back down the mountain. I did the usual house cleaning chores. Doing the laundry and towels this afternoon.
